Women are allowed to choose multiple hairstyles in the military so why can’t men?

Been in the military, Army. It’s something I wouldn’t care for myself. My time in I cared more about being practical and efficient.

Now a days it seems more about being an individual and that’s where things started getting fucked up when the focus is on just one person as opposed to operating as a unit. But that’s just me.

It's more to do with unity among women. When they raise their issues, they do it as a group and if someone refuses a simple and not impossible demand, they shut that person down. Whereas most men act individually.

I feel the military should be an equally shared experience with both sexes.

I think the only thing that annoys me are the women that have their hair short like men but that don’t have to keep it within the men’s regs.

Been in the military. Men had lots of hair options as long as it was short. Women had to keep it in a bun of it was long.

The distance you will be patrolling won't get shorter because your a girl.

The patrol won't return to the COP because you're having feminine hygiene issues.

Forget forcing the same grooming standards make them meet the exact same physical standards we have to meet. From regular troops to rangers to any SF. The fact we changed the PT test and gave female soldiers a lower standard to meet than male soldiers and they are still failing at record rates. The next war won't be won because we have a diverse military it will be one because one side has more physically and mentally tough soldiers. The military and war isn't a game. The military isn't a place to cater to people to make them happy. Meet the standard or get gone. The military shouldn't lower its standards for you. You raise your standards to meet its needs or you stay out. Period. Serving your country isn't a right. It's a privelage. That is all

Seals can have beards, i dont see why all of my buddys cant either. Since the regs changed i wear a ponytail. Less messing around with hair, more working. If theres something loose that would get caught in a weapon or machinery, secure it. Otherwise follow your dreams guys.

So i agree with you, but not on the beard part.

The gas mask requirement isn't so much "You will be dealing with gas, get your face ready" but more along the lines of "If for some reason we do have to deal with gas, you have 30 seconds to shave your face" which is very impractical.

So, i'd still support beard ban so long as it interferes with a gas mask, but there are styles that work just fine with those like a goatee.

Otherwise, 100% agree it's just to dehumanize them to try and make sure they aren't making decisions for themselves.
