To be honest, that's not necessarily the case. It's merely that women get the lion's share of custody in a split parenthood scenario. Therefore they have a higher opportunity than men to be abusive. They are, however, more likely to get away with it, therefore they are more inclined to be abusive.

I’m sorry for your story. Please know I mean no disrespect or diminishing the issue, simply offering a countering idea. While I’m not saying it’s the case, one driver of it seeming more prominent could simply be the sheer difference in single moms raising kids versus single dads raising kids. Again, not saying that’s the case or to seem any way dismissive of your plight.

Remember, the third(Canada anyhow) biggest reason for divorce this day and age is falling out of love.

Eg, suddenly the man they married was not the man they wanted him to be. Boom.

I’ve always had both my parents, but during much of my youth it did kind of feel like my dad was a single dad. My mother has depression and would often lock herself in her bedroom. So my dad would work 60 hour weeks then come home to cook and take care of us. There were times when I was very young I’d go hungry, not due to poverty, my parents were always doing well financially, but rather due to not having someone home to feed us until my father came back from his long shift.

So to all the dads out there, thank you.

I'm so sorry to hear about your sucky situation.

I have come across one or two examples online of girls being abused by single dad's. Anecdotally however irl, I have only come across similar stories to yours.

Out of the 625 case studies regarding abuse of adolescent girls, 27 percent were done by the father. The highest percent of any other individual relationship.

It's certainly not never happening as it's happening for too frequently. Though as the article states, it is far less talked about.

Accordingly, until recently, data from single father households was so sparse that studies couldn't even attempt to draw statistics.

I'm sorry for your experience. Rest assured that other boys are less likely to be abused by mom's than dad's.

My kids Mom's fav and overly spoiled kid, is our youngest.. Which is a boy..

My Mom, seems to only really be open and more closer to me. But that could be cause, in her current marriage. I'm the step child..

So I dunno, but if this is really a thing.. Maybe we are just the odd balls of the bunch.
