Polygamy was basically created for wealthy men who can financially take care of multiple women and who wanted to have a lot of children. Polygamy depends on what tradition or religion you follow. Religion-wise (Muslim males specifically) have to provide housing for said wives but nowadays men think that polygamy is one big orgy with him doing nothing but having sex, which is false. In reality, one man is responsible for all those women and he is also responsible for the kids from those women. Housing must be provided, money must be provided and you must have enough money to evenly distribute between your wives because you can’t show favoritism to any of your wives unless you want your house to be in chaos.

In the western world polygamy has been misconstrued and men think the hardest part is finding a harem of willing women to join him but it goes further than that. You’re expected to provide most (if not all) things financial and material but guys who earn less than 70k think they’re able to afford multiple wives as long as the women go 50/50 which is not the point of polygamy. The only concern/duties of those ladies in polygamous relationships is to procreate and take care of their children while everything else (bills, shopping expenses etc) is left up to the man.

This is why SOME ladies are willing to enter those relationships to begin with because all they have to do is lay with the man once or twice a month, get pregnant, go to her own house (that is paid by him), drive cars that are paid by him, give birth, take care of her kids, and spend her time with hobbies and whatever else she wants to do while the man has other wives to entertain him.

Polygamy isn’t meant to be 50/50 it is meant to be 97 (man) and 3 (women) because their only responsibility should be to take care of the house and their children. Unless you can find cheap ladies to go 50/50 with you because they don’t fully understand the concept of how polygamy is supposed to be.

In the Quran, even the richest man is said to not supposed to have more than three wives because there’s no way he could adequately emotionally support more than three wives and respective children. Even if he could financially.

they normally work like this women uses

Beta man for beta qualities: money, non sexual affection, every day life help, status, raising children, emotional needs, security.

Alpha men alpha qualities: sexual desires, adult fun, children.

the beta men get a companion and the chance to have sex and bio children.

the alphas get access to sex maybe children with out the burden of performance or responsibility.

No they do not go 50/50

sometimes the women has multiple betas to run her life and one alpha to fulfill her sexual needs.

sometimes its one beta/guy she "loves" and a string of "alphas" that come and go.

so the girls who have multiple betas they are probably paying. she is more than likely using them like sugar daddies and having them pay to play to a degree.

for the other girl who has multiple alphas the one beta/guy you probably see a mix bag with this type. it just depends on if you allow yourself to be used.

example for the second type: you live with your girl you both work and you split bills for the shared space you live in but you have different accounts and you both have sex wtih other ppl.

I assume this type requires more rules.

How does poly work? I’m RP and I fail to see how poly benefits men in the scenario in which he is the bred winner. Do poly ppl go 50/50 or is it multipe bf (guy provider) and she just gets the benefits of multiple providers?

I'm not in a polyamorous relationship myself, but am open to the idea of one.

I have known 2 poly relationships though. Both were a straight man and two bi women. In R1, two of them worked full-time and the woman who worked part-time did the majority of shopping and housework. They were all childfree, and it seemed like a relationship that just organically grew out of being housemates.

In R2, it was a husband and wife who had a live-in girlfriend. They had 2 children between the married ones, but the gf was unfortunately sterile. From conversations with them, the gf treated and loved the kids as her own and they had a calendar that helped make "date nights" equitable between all 3 members to help prevent jealousy. I'm sure they still needed to have conversations about it, but they'd been together for 4 years when I knew them so I hope they're still doing well.

Some do, yes. However myself and a good number of other women don't want that. I have no idea of the numbers but many women don't want to have a relationship where the man is responsible for everything.

Would you get turned off if the poly dude refuses to be a provider? How does this workout?

I personally wouldn't, no, but that's because I enjoy being the provider. In most couples, both work anyway so it's rare the man is a sole breadwinner...he likely makes more, but probably not significantly so. If I was in a poly relationship it'd most likely be that all 3 of us have jobs and contribute to the household expenses.

If you mean poly in the sense of what people refer to with modern poly relationships, I doubt you’d find much adherence to gender roles with regard to the provider/dependent role. At least in the people I’ve talked to, it’s always been on pretty equal ground

It benefits the people in the relationship because that’s the relationship model they want.

I can’t speak on all of the relationships but I can speak on the dynamic of a mutual friend I’ll call C. They’re not “officially” dating but C and well C2(the man) have expressed their feelings for one another, he’s made it clear that he fancies her beyond physical attraction and visa versa. Financially they have zero ties to each other and C recently bought a gift for C2. She just bought him a really nice knife as a present with some sort of bone handle or other. Really nice piece, even my husband was quite impressed with it. C wanted to get C2 an engraved blade but couldn’t afford it this time, she plans on not only getting an engraved knife for but has also been thinking of making something for him as well. C doesn’t have any expectations financially of anyone least of all a partner, this is the second relationship C will be entering and the second partner she’s ever had. I don’t know C2 well but from what I do know of him he’s a pretty great guy, she wants to travel out to meet up with him and the topic of lunch came up. C was adamant about paying for her own meal and even half or full price for C2 but he declined and said they could go half.
