My first divorce was a nightmare in which my ex blindsided me and attempted to kick me out of the house while I was visiting my parents.

I’ve been with my current wife for 7 years almost 3 years married. We both know and have come to terms that it’s over but haven’t discussed divorce yet. We both work for the same organization and we’re still very amicable with each other.

After she experienced a near violent event several years ago, her mental health was like a roller coaster and there were a lot of triggers from her past. The pandemic didn’t help either. I started becoming distant from her when before I would listen and be there for her when she was having anxiety or panic attacks.

The area that we live in has a housing crisis in which there’s not enough affordable housing to go around and any available apartment is in high demand. Because of this, we’re still living in the same house but sleep in separate bedrooms.

I do plan on finding my own apartment but we’re working on paying off some debt first and I’m trying to save for first and last.

She had a later shift than me today and on her drive home almost had another car hit her when they lost control on snow covered roads. She called me to talk her through the rest of her drive home while she was having a panic attack.

I may be losing a wife but I’m gaining a life long friend.
