The second to last sentence is something I'm personally struggling with. I have had many traumatic experiences with "love" that have left a sour taste in my mouth. Now I am repulsed by the idea of talking to men ever again. I feel scarred for life.

I'm going to take a different view of this. Romantic love is highly overrated, and it is basically a chemical soup that your brain is getting high on. Put romantic love last. Put your interests first. If it's a relationship you're after, go for a man you're attracted to and who adores you, a man who has your best interests truly at heart. Fall in love with being truly respected, seen, and cherished. Fall in love with how he treats you. Actions can't lie, over the long run, and this is why you keep vetting. If you fall in love with HIM after all is said and done, then that is a nice added bonus. But the lie that women have been sold, that a love relationship with a man is the pinnacle of her life, is just that--a big fat lie. It takes much, much more than love to make a relationship work. Frankly, it should be last on the list, because once that chemical soup fades, it is the character of the man and how he treats you that will keep the relationship going. Never let your love of a man lead the relationship. We fool ourselves badly and overlook so much be doing this, so don't.

This is difficult for me to read right now. I have developed hate for love songs, romantic movies and all of that, it all seems fake and impossible.
