Dinner dates still happen when you're married. It's just that now you have to put in a new kitchen to get some.

It depends. Ideally, yes... living with a woman who splits everything 50/50 is less expensive.

But there are a lot of women that expect you to pay for everything. There are a lot of men here that have been destroyed in sexist custody courts or divorce courts who would be much better off financially if they had never been in a relationship.

Yes. A working relationship where everything is happy and 50/50 is cheaper.

But you cannot predict how that relationship will go. When you’re single, you have much more control over your situation... but that control comes with the price tag you’re describing

I'm not sure that living together is really any cheaper.

Most guys pay a disproportionate amount of the rent and bills. And I think you'd be surprised by how much your grocery bill and water / electricity goes up, too (it will more than double in some cases, especially groceries). I don't want to make any sweeping generalizations because I'm sure this isn't always true. But a lot of guys don't understand just how much money a lot of women spend on just everything, all the time. There isn't an attitude of protecting money. Instead it's all about consumption. And once they have access to your money, they spend that, too.

Word of advice for when you do find a ltr: be very clear upfront about money and how it's spent. I know myself after a few years I had to put my foot down on running out to the store all the time because she relied on that more than she did planning ahead (and half the time she expected me to go by myself and waste my time picking things up for her due to her lack of foresight). "Make a list, and we'll go to the store one time. If you forget something, we'll pick it up next week."

Maybe you could run a cost analysis and find that it comes out cheaper in some cases, due to living efficiencies, but I really doubt it. You go from buying a dessert, to buying a larger house, to buying cribs and car seats real fast. And they typically don't pay for any of that stuff themselves.

Note that this isn't just my experience but is also what I've seen with some of my friends, including a couple who are married. I'm not saying it's not worth it, but don't think of it like you're going to be saving money.

Ideally 50/50. On first, second, third dates, I tend to offer splitting in a "I'll pay for drinks, you pay for food" sense.

I offer to pay for all if I earn more. And usually they offer if they earn more.
