For those who say people are only interested in this case because they're both extremely wealthy and famous are missing a very important point.

If one of the richest most famous men in the world can not get justice for the abuse he has received. then this will make it a certainty that no man regardless of his stature will ever receive justice.

This isn't just a case between 2 famous movie stars this is a case to set the persistent for all male DV victims.

[–]e-g-g-g 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Amen 🙏

[–]donthatemeloljoke 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

I think its also notable that the internet has come out in support of Johnny. Almost seems to be regardless of ideology or leaning. I actually think this case highlights that the world doesn't automatically blame "the man" like some people here thinks it does

[–]Purple-Till5272 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

But they did when the allegations were first presented. Johnny lost all the roles and contracts he had before the case because of that very statement. They blamed "the man" before hearing from his side of the story.

It's only now that we are hearing from Johnny's side that the world is starting to become more sympathetic to his struggles. Right?

[–]donthatemeloljoke 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago* (3 children) | Copy Link

Ye. That is a grey area. Because in a case where the man is genuinely guilty, it would be madness to let them continue working whilst there are allegations. So I don't know the answer to that one

Kinda like the Tim Westwood thing in the UK atm. Radio dj been taken off air because of accusations.

Or even the opposite. Jimmy Savile not being taken off air even though there were rumours.

There's no right answer I guess

[–]Melkor7410 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

But the point is that until he's proven guilty, he's innocent. People need to stop convicting someone in the court of public opinion. It screws up the lives of many men. Why you think this is a grey area is beyond me.

[–]donthatemeloljoke 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

A grey area as in... if teacher (a women let's say) was accused of harassing kids. They should be suspended from their role while they're under investigation.

I agree with you tho. The court of public opinion isn't good for the innocent

[–]Melkor7410 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

A grey area as in... if teacher (a women let's say) was accused of harassing kids. They should be suspended from their role while they're under investigation.

That is a slightly different situation than court of public opinion. And I would say, suspended with pay, and the reason for the suspension must not be made public (unless the accused decides to make it public). If there's a potential safety issue, yes steps need to be taken to separate accused from potential victims, but done in a way that minimizes the impact on the accused. There are too many people that are wrongly accused and have their lives ruined. /r/SupportForTheAccused/

Feminist groups and media are hellbent on labelling Johnny Depp as the perpetrator. But it's not working against the amount of evidence that Johnny Dep has.

[–]donthatemeloljoke 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Oh. I haven't seen any negative press about Johnny. Only bad stuff about AH. Either way, the internet has clearly picked its side

[–]TextDependent6779 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

For those who say people are only interested in this case because they're both extremely wealthy and famous are missing a very important point.

i mean, there's definitely people who are only interested because of this reason, but those are a small group. by no means is it the majority.

seems feminists always assume a tiny portion is representative of the majority.

[–]PQKN051502 10 points11 points12 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Also we need to promote organizations to help male victims. Complaining and calling out misandry is good. But we also need to be practical and helpful.

[–]e-g-g-g 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

For sure 🙂

[–]ribps 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

we need a list of the unequal laws in the US to fight them

[–]stingermamabee 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Here's a moment of vulnerability on my part, and please be kind because this has taken a lot of fucking therapy to reconcile with.

I'm hoping JD wins this case. I see my past self in Amber, and it's taken a very long time for me to be able to say, well shit I was emotionally and verbally abusive to my partner... Men since the dawn of time have been told they're bigger, so they can fight back. They're men so they should be kind and treat women well.

This case is making a very important point that men are victims too, and they have a right to defend themselves... I hope the odds are in his favor, because everything I've seen so far says yes, he has a substance problem, he has mental health problems, and he has self harm issues...but that doesn't make you an abusive individual.

Filming someone in those times of crisis and laughing, throwing things, name calling, throwing those substance abuse issues in someones face when they struggle with sobriety, claiming they hit you and publicly spitting on someones name, THAT'S abuse and you don't have to be wealthy to recognize that.

Especially when you've been on both ends of that sword, you can see who is cutting who....

Amen, it’s very hard for anybody to know their faults. Things like that are particularly hard to notice since you don’t know you’re doing it so it makes me happy you’ve been able to figure it out. It’s even harder to admit it. I find that very admirable and shows how much you’ve grown as a person. Amber lawyers have wasted so much of their time talking about his drug addiction just for it to not prove anything. It’s like yeah it could have a part in how aggressive he is but they haven’t proved it, they just say yeah you asked for a lot of drugs in this text message then look at the judge like 👁👄👁. And yeah that old woman on ambers team keeps trying to play up that notion that only women have this problem, and it’s really making me happy that women are calling out her bullshit because they know it’s not healthy for real domestic violence victims.

[–]sootlord 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The case should be open and shut after they played this recording of Amber saying this to Johnny.

"Tell the world, Johnny, tell them ‘I, Johnny Depp, a man, I’m a victim, too, of domestic violence… and it’s a fair fight.’ And see how many people believe or side with you,”

[–]buried_alive0 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Even if JD is wins the trial, his life suffered permanent damage from the time people thought he was the abuser. In that time, the one who was winning was AH. She's cashing in on being a victim, doing seminars about domestic abuse.

Edit: typing

[–]TAPriceCTR 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

depp should... but the fact that he even MIGHT not is a testimony to how broken and gynocentric our legal system is.

that said, psychology has just as much feminist infiltration as the judiciary... that shrink testifying about Heard really impressed me so maybe society is starting to pull out of its death spiral.

[–]NoBrick444 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Even if he wins he loses.

He already lost a finger, and years of his life and spent millions on lawyers.

For what, some floozy.

I assume she already received vagimony.

The only one who loses here is Johnny Depp.

[–]AspirationsOfFreedom 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

The conclution will probably end in Capn' Depps favor.

The emotional winner will be nether.

[–]e-g-g-g 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Oh interesting. What do you mean by “emotional winner”?

[–]AspirationsOfFreedom 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Well, both parties have gotten/gets their name dragged through the dirt. Now all the dirty laundry is out there, and no matter what ether party does... someone will always belive the opposite and blame you (sincerely, someone falsly accused of rape that TO THIS DATE have people belive i did it besides the evidence i have to the opposite.)

Nobody here is winning emotionally.

[–]e-g-g-g 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Oh I see, so like a reputation type deal. Certainly bad for both of them in that case. Although it still makes me wonder why Amber was still cast for Aquaman even though I think it happened after the trial. Nobody likes her so it’s kind of weird.

[–]AspirationsOfFreedom 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Weeeeell now we know how modern society likes "the message". And certianly "belive women" has left its mark.

[–]e-g-g-g 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

True lol

Here are some organizations for male victims of domestic violence and sexual abuse: ManKind, Men's Advice Line UK, Paul Lavelle Foundation, Men Aid, 1in6, One In Tree, The Family Place, Valley Oasis,...

Men and male victims clearly don't get enough support. However, we need to promote what we do have instead of telling male victims they have nothing. The more we promote these organizations, the more donations they get.

Comment some organizations for male victims of domestic violence and sexual abuse in your country so male victims are able to get help.

Amber. Even if she loses the actual court case she won the important part; public opinion.

[–]test90001 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

From what I can tell, the public at large seems to be on Depp's side.

[–]rajkrisme 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I truly wish that Johnny wins but men never wins in court. Even if a man is innocent he will lose in court. I have no faith in our legal system. It's full of bs.
