He has always had trouble with his emotions. He's always had trouble with anger, rage. He's learned to use it though, he uses it to get what he wants.

He learned it from his mother who her now is spending 100% of his time with because I said 'no' to that sort of manipulation. I enforced my boundaries and she rescued him. All I did was say 'no.' All I did was tell him he had to do his school work, he had to go to school. I did everything I could to help him but he knows mom won't hold him accountable. So he went there, months ago.

He's too close to 18 for me to do anything in court to get her to honor our custody order. Plus he will see it negatively and it'll just make things worse between us.

I enforced my boundaries on her to and wouldn't reimburse for her for expenses I didn't agree on prior to the money being spent. She excluded me from participating in the activities and now she's not willing to split ANY expenses for our other children until I agree to split the $500 she spent on the oldest's prom.

Now, I was perfectly willing to help. I reached out to the boy directly. Mom wanted me to pay for his clothes and his and his girlfriend's ticket. I asked 'is he doing anything to earn this' and she replied 'I'd rather pay for it myself than talk to you about this.' So I let her pay for it herself. Then she came back and asked me for reimbursement and I said 'No, you already decided which way you wanted to go with these expenses.'

Now I do pay child support but it's based on the 50/50 custody we're supposed to have in the custody order. She is saying she's going to take me to court and she's stiffing me for the expenses she owes me for that were previously agreed to split. She's also refusing to split the normal summer camp expenses of our other children out of spite.

My attorney says at this point, there just isn't much I can do except wait to see if she actually does file for a modification. We have a conflict resolution process outlined in our judgement that she has to follow or I could file to hold her in contempt. I could file to hold her in contempt for withholding my child from my custody time (he's 17 tho and attorney says that would go badly and I agree).

Sometimes the high road is about keeping the peace and moving forward. Sometimes the high road though is about fighting the fight because your boundaries are worth defending.

I'm tired of being taken advantage of. Our family has lost so much because of this woman, we've been hurt so much due to her selfish, childish behavior. The time for 'No' has arrived and I'm not afraid to say it. I'm not afraid to go in front of a judge. I will ask for attorney's fees with every proceeding we end up in.

None of this had to be if she would just follow the judgement.
