So, there’s a thing called “arousal nonconcordance,” which is where the body is demonstrating signs of arousal but the brain isn’t turned on, OR where the brain is very turned on but the body is not signaling arousal. It happens a lot.

The most obvious example is when a man gets an erection in a completely unsexy context, like at the grocery store, and is all mortified. But anyway, this happens to women too, all the time, and is very normal although sometimes very frustrating.

TL;DR: getting wetter when more turned on is a sexy narrative and sounds good in erotic fiction but doesn’t have much to do with the experience of sex.
