You can do two things with that kind of response. You can take it to heart or you can come back swinging e.g. (Damn girl, I just wanted to know how many tattoos you have, I need to know what to expect when I take your clothes off later)

By taking it to heart you're essentially saying "this chase isn't fair" or "you're not worth the chase" and this always upsets the person being chased. BUT that closing message confirms bullet dodged, so I think it was the right call.
