Hello,

I’ve been lurking through this sub recently because my husband has been having trouble with his mental health, and I want to make sure he knows I’m here for him and that his feelings are valid.

Trouble is, he was raised as, for lack of a better term, a “man’s man.” Taught that crying was a bad thing, etc. He keeps everything inside until he implodes, putting holes in the wall and screaming at me.

I have tried getting him to talk to me, but I can’t force him to. He doesn’t want to go to therapy. He has unresolved trauma that contributes a lot to these outbursts (molested as a kid in church) which I try to understand. However, we have a daughter now and it terrifies her when daddy yells.

I need to know how to make sure he knows I care about his feelings, but this needs to stop, especially in front of our daughter. Any advice is appreciated. Thank you for reading.
