By the way, your response indicates that you believe sexism and gender inequality exists. Sexism of both varieties (male and female) DO exist and have existed since time began. Funny that female sexism mysteriously disappeared in the last couple decades. I'm curious how you think men and women are treated "unequally". The Gender Wage Gap is a myth, debunked multiple times, most notably by a female Ivy League PhD Economist, last name Golden. But, hey, science is only "real" science when it benefits the Intersectionality group that's currently being oppressed... the current "Gold Medalists" in the "Victim Olympics" (unless that group is men, we're always dead last).

it is the obligation of the eldest male child to support the ageing parents. Under the one child policy, parents with a daughter not only have no one to support them, but they are legally and culturally obliged to support unmarried daughters indefinitely.

That's not female privelage; that's because until recently, women in China were literally considered the family's property and thus could not own property or support themselves. Also with the tradition of foot binding (mutilating a non-consenting young girls feet so that she is more attractive in the hopes of attracting a wealthy husband 🙄 leaving her effectively crippled for life), their alternative would be to abandon their mutilated unwed daughters to die in the streets.

Girls are expected to be given things such as actual care, love, money, etc which results in seeing girls as not beneficial

That's because they were considered the male families property, rather than their own person like their brothers. Sure they had food, shelter etc but they were effectively slaves to be given away to another family for the purpose of making babies.

If a woman in old world China found herself unwed as an adult, her money making potential is severely limited compared to a male in a similar position.

(Only recently) In 2019 a government directive was released banning employers in China from posting "men preferred" or "men only" job advertising, and banning companies from asking women seeking jobs about their childbearing and marriage plans or requiring applicants to take pregnancy tests

And also Chinese women have historically held little rights to private property, both by societal customs and by law.

Women in rural China of course were "allowed" to work as labourers to support themselves, but if her parents subjected her to foot binding she would be fucked.

Those women had no choice but to live like that.

That is not female privelage, that is slavery and oppression.

Getting treated with the best treatment to the level of girls getting princess syndrome is "considered property"? No honey, it only seems like property because girls don't work and aren't burdened with much, which means someone has to provide, but parents are getting old so who do you think it is? The future husband. That's why both the parents and the daughter rely on getting the girl married fast.

And instead of linking everything to the same Wikipedia page, how about you specify? I want you to specify where your claims come from. Women in China have many privileges just like every woman, which is the reason why companies rather have men who barely have any rights, don't speak up much, and are made to shut up and overwork. What the hell do you expect the results to be? The issue in China wasn't about owning property, but working. It's literally a wide known stereotype of a Chinese man who knows nothing in life but work. (Chinese) woman? Just cook and live a carefree life unless the man is dying.

I don't know how to explain to you that going to school, being able to earn your own money, choosing your own career, voting, property ownership, freedom of movement, bodily autonomy etc are things that people generally WANT and for a group of people to not be allowed those things (women) is NOT A PRIVELAGE. Women in China fought hard for those rights; what you call "oppressive obligations on men". Do you understand what all the womens sufferage movements around the world were about?

Women in China can go to school, work, own property, earn money, choose their own careers, vote, move freely, and have more bodily autonomy than men. Who are you trying to lie to? Are you seriously so desperate to paint women as the biggest of victims that you have to use outdated issues that even then don't hold up to what Chinese men face/d?

Moving on, the point of the first link is useless because I already explained why companies even do that, and why it has absolutely nothing to do with gender inherently, but more like gender preformence (albeit men preforming better after harsh discrimination and treatment). So is the other link's point which I already debunked as to why sons are preferred, a no brainer.

And what sources are you expecting? Are you one of those people who think sending blue words on the internet = you're right? Lmao. I only asked from you because when you first provided they were just Wikipedia, which mind you, are not used as evidence in actual studies and research. My "sources" are crystal clear in front of you: Who works the most in China? Do you expect the preferred boys in China to sit on thrones eating grapes? Who died the most in wars? Who are most farmers, even outside the law? Which gender of children do you think is put to work? It's a historical fact how boys in China are trained to be absolute machines who work, provide, fight then die. All while you're complaining about issues that, compared with men's, seem trivial. Keep in mind I'm focusing on debunking your words rather than adding for my points. I still didn't even start talking about the issues men face in China such as banning feminine men from literally existing in real life and TV, as well as enforcing laws that force men to become masculine and stoic. Literal laws, not social stereotypes anymore.
