Hang in and hold your line steady. Hopefully you've gotten a lawyer so you aren't stream rolled in court.

Your children deserve a safe and reliable household. As long as child support exists take as much as you can, if for nothing else to normalize women paying.

Long road ahead of you. Ensure you find a good therapist to help you cope with the insanity of the situation.

The main thing I hear is that they will try to trip you up about if you're a good parent or not. Do you know what your kid does at school, how they're performing, what they like, who their favourite superhero is etc.

And do you know what their blood type is, their allergies, when they last went to the doctor, how many cavities they've had, things like that.

Often the woman in the relationship takes care of these kind of things (usually because the man is working 40 hours a week), so it's a fantastic way to screw the guy over by showing he has no idea what's going on in his kid's life and how he's neglectful if he doesn't know when they last went to the doctor, what for, when their next appointment is or if they're asked 'have you ever made a dentist appointment' etc etc

Knowing all this extra curricular stuff is what I've heard is wise to brush up on because it's a great way to attack men.

Just get your kids to memorise your phone number. So they are able to call you when the lunatic takes all their devices.

This drives police officers crazy when they try to orphan children from their bio parents.

There’s one thing in your favor and that’s her chronicled poor choice in partners.

The Judge ( IF they’re decent) will appreciate any and all proof your lawyer can submit to show improved normalcy for the kids while in your care. That you can financially support them and with child support can care for their needs both financially as well as emotionally. Bring pay stubs and information about where you live as well as the city-designated quality of community and schools. The one that brings the most proof and info wins the case.

Dress well. Don’t talk over the judge. Speak simply. No sorries or He Said/She Said unless the Judge asks directly. He may even ask the 6 yr old if they’re happy right now. Don’t coach beforehand.

The family courts really aren't as bad as they were (in most places). Just state your case, be honest and confident. Talk about being the primary caregiver, demonstrate that you love them and you should be fine.

My father was way more wealthy and healthy and stable than my mom, yet she got the custody of me and my brother. Its gonna be hard but trying to prove you are trustworthy and capable of handling children is a good start. Other than that discrediting the mother is not always a good idea unless she is a danger to the kids.

Just be clear and precise regarding exchange if applicable. Drop off location and time are required otherwise the court order is not enforceable, meaning it’s difficult to prove contempt of a court order if the order is vague.

Very important not to doing shit on the walls. Judges have seen these cases a thousand times and can smell a bitter ex. You are the custodial parent, courts will not remove the child from their custodial home without documented child abuse (domestic violence is not relevant in custody).

If divorce is involved, you may seek a purity clause (it has another name but I can’t recall) meaning neither party can introduce a new partner to the children for an allotted amount of time.

Don’t stress too much, you’ll be fine.

Study up before hand. Have documents of their medical/dental/optical visits. Document the activities you participate with them, including names and contact info of people who can verify you are present. Be aware of the names of any people your kids have contact with, including friends, teachers, programs, whatever.
