I am in the process of a divorce and though this may be my fault due to my gambling, do I take the responsibility of it and let my wife have the house for the kids? or do I sell the house and split 50/50? As well as her car which I bought for her but we still have a balance with equity in the car...she thinks she should keep the car, but the car is in my name. Now before one is quickly to judge, I like to point out that I been supporting my wife through her goals to go to college and now she is in medical school...she hasn't worked a day since we got together the last 8 years...and I always felt she doesn't really appreciate what we have, since most our friends are very well off.

So I told her I need to think to do what is best for me and the kids to rebuild my future and she responded that I should think what is best for the kids first. We have one kid with one on the way.

The moral thing would to pay for the mortgage until our son is born and let them stay 6-8 months, and let her keep the car, but if I felt that she never appreciated what I was able to offer her, then why don't I let her find out what it is like on her own???

I get my gambling caused her to want the divorce, but should I feel that guilty to continue paying for her luxury while I need to live poor?
