They're basically giving them the power to destroy any man's life without question. How the fuck do you prove someone is staring? If there aren't witnesses your not proving anything and just taking the word of the "victim".

[–]Lasttoflinch 18 points19 points20 points 3 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Acts like whistling, obscene gestures, and sexual overtures against women also fall under the category of crime in the state after the amended act...

The aforementioned acts are already covered under s509 of the Penal Code. Do they really have to come up with a superfluous provision that continues to deny female perpetrators and male victims?

[–]baba_yagaw[S] 11 points12 points13 points 3 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

We already have the laws that you stated but our ministers are stating that the nation needs more women protection laws(particularly on marriage side). These guys will do anything for votes from ppl. I once saw a story about a guy getting FIR coz some girl thought he was looking at her inappropriatly 🀣

[–]Lasttoflinch 19 points20 points21 points 3 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link

The laws being gender-specific makes it infinitely more reprehensible. As far as I'm aware, there is little to no legal recourse for male victims of sexual and domestic violence in India. Our Penal Code (I'm from Singapore) was based on India's but gradual reforms made it much more gender-neutral, although not entirely.

Yes, and how about women staring at men????

[–]baba_yagaw[S] 8 points9 points10 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yepp the laws are in large favour of women and some women even take adv of it and blackmail men and make their life miserable, its hard if you're a guy in india coz anybody can put a simple case and boom the first thing they do is a FIR before any investigation. But our country also has some issues related to men activities, some guys are just crazy bad which makes a lot of other normal guys look bad.

there was even one where a blind man got accused of staring at a woman in a noisy gym

[–]Spirited-Road-4345 3 points4 points5 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

But what if the words came from another woman?

[–]Lasttoflinch 7 points8 points9 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No legal recourse as far as I'm aware.

[–]StudentOfTheTruth01 15 points16 points17 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

How do they define "staring"?

Like is there a minimum duration you have to look at a woman, or something? Obviously, you have to look at somebody at least for a fraction of a second if you don't want to bump into them.

How is this idiocy supposed to work?

My suspicion: this will just give women another way of false accusations. Clearly the bus driver cannot determine this, he is looking at the road. The only way I can imagine this is that a random woman can just walk up to the bus driver and accuse a random man. No investigation, no evidence, nothing. The bus driver have to take the man to a police station.

Possible scenarios:

  1. Woman wants a particular seat, man doesn't want to stand up and give it. Woman goes to bus driver and accuses staring.
  2. Johnny didn't give his lunch to Suzy in school when Suzy demanded it. In revenge, on the way home in the school bus Suzy walks up to the bus driver and accuses Johnny of staring.

Etc. I can't imagine anything else how this could be implemented. Especially the "staring" part.

These people are completely out of their f*cking minds.

So her word against his I take it?

[–]IronJohnMRA 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Almost. His word doesn't matter in this case. So it's just hers'.

[–]Fast-Mongoose-4989 5 points6 points7 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm going to mack a wild guess.

That law is not well thought out and the gender language means only applies to women which macks it sexist and breaks another of this country law and after a couple years it will be taken down after much controversy.

[–]TheSnesLord 10 points11 points12 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It really is time for segregation now.

[–]dw87190 10 points11 points12 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I'm sorry, has every single mental health ward shut down? Because extreme and paranoia and delusions like this should have these women placed in the mental health ward

[–]baba_yagaw[S] 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Do you wanna know the funny part no women have asked for something like this. This is all from male politicians literally destroying lives of boys for some tiny little vote bank. In india even government related jobs are fully given to women and only 10-15%(totally) are men.

[–]dw87190 3 points4 points5 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Ahh yes the willing submissive slaves

I'm not surprised at that figure for a misandristic nation like India

[–]rainbow_bro_bot 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

How exactly does one prove that someone else was staring at them?

[–]Handle-me-timber 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Lemme just introduce a bill that classifies foody dates as SA real quick. That’s equally as offensive as looking at someone. πŸ˜‚

[–]darkfire5806 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I fr thought this was talking about Tennessee for a second

[–]BeepBeepYeah7789 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Ditto, but the spelling of "offence" made me rethink that............

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

If I stare at someone regardless of gender, it's my choice, because on that basic level I control myself and hurt no one by staring (maybe uncomfortable but not the end of the world).

And this won't stop rape, because most people who stare don't actually rape, but the people who actually do or just touch without consent, don't care about this rule.

Staring at the opposite gender (idlf you're heterosexual) because you think they are hot is natural. Touching then without consent homewer is forbidden.

There are the other gestures like whistling or idk, but under every culture, it is a bit different. For who does it count, my or the womans culture if I do a "sexual gesture"?

And they can't enforce this rule, like I accidentally look at a woman, how do they know that, what time interwall counts? Is there a security guard who looks at everyone to not do these? What is the "punishment" for it? Why does it only counts against women? Does it count if im not on the bus the woman is but I still stare at them, but they can't do anything bc im not in the bus? Does it count if the woman is not in the bus? Does it count if we are on different buses? Does it count if it's my girlfriend? Does it count as an offense if the woman stares back?

There can be unconforable gestures for everyone, but cmon once or twice happens on the bus thats nothing, I am stared at on the bus sometimes too, and you probably wont ever see them, and if yes, and they actually always do "sexual offense" you can do other things about it like report it to police or bring self defense assets with yourself.

And is this the best thing they care about when in other countries some women have literally no rights whatsoever.

Once, long ago, I said that men would get treated like serfs. "AVERT YOUR GAZE, MALE!!"

Here the fuck it is...it's starting.

[–]TracyMorganFreeman 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Jokes on you, I don't see gender.

[–]IronJohnMRA 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I thought TN meant Tennessee. That threw me for a loop. After reading it the story was about India. That figures.

[–]baba_yagaw[S] 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Lol. I shared this coz i wanted ppl to see how stupid some laws can be. And for the better, dont allow such laws in any states or countries.

[–]neko_hime_ 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Wow so despite paying full fare charge a male can still be forced out of bus without getting his money back? 😐 Nice idea to loot male passangers.( ig TN also give free bus rides to women, right?)

[–]baba_yagaw[S] 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Yeppp women have free passes for all bus and even trains sometimes

[–]neko_hime_ 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Nothing less expected from TN πŸ™ƒ Delhi is also same as TN πŸ™ƒ

[–]biscuitheque 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

If you want to turn women into a protected species go ahead. No looking at women, no interacting, no touching.

Some of us already do this voluntarily.

But if you want to train all men to not interact with women, measures like this are the way to do it.

Some women need to have the balls to cancel radical feminism. The dysfunction is ramping up.

[–]UnconventionalXY 3 points4 points5 points 3 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

Not going to happen, for the same reasons as: "first they came for X, but I was not X, ... then they came for me".

Women not affected will not rock the boat because it doesn't apply to them or in fear of losing what they have.

Eventually men will be forced to fix the problem that women created.

[–]biscuitheque 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Eventually men will be forced to fix the problem that women created.

Yes, I agree with this.

[–]RockmanXX 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

have the balls to cancel radical feminism

Are we still doing this? ALL feminism is bad because Patriarchy Theory is essentially blaming men for all problems in Society and labelling all Men Privileged .

[–]biscuitheque 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I didn't say some of it isn't radical. I said radical feminism.

[–]RockmanXX 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

What is radical feminism?? Something that's radical to you is normal to others. Just say that you're against Patriarchy Theory.

[–]biscuitheque 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Well, I think segregation is a radical idea.

[–]RockmanXX 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Its not so radical to people when its applied to Gender. People believe that Women need to be segregated from Men because Men are dangerous&violent.
