Good chance she got called a "pick-me" after this, but even if she were... I'd rather marry a pick-me than go on a single date with someone who only wants to use me as long as it's convenient.

Yeah, when I say that some men - particularly those who are anxious, or inexperienced, or aware of these kinds of discussions - are too scared to approach women because it's no longer allowed, this is what I'm talking about.

Sure, there are also "traditionally" shy/nervous men, who are scared for the old reasons of simple rejection and not being good enough, but women like the one highlighted here crank that dial way up to "it's a literal crime if you approach me without first reading my mind, which should land you on an offender's register".

Are there many of these women, in the grand scheme of things? Probably not. But when you get a few of these loudmouths making grand claims like this, and you tie that in with government/corporation/education-backed rhetoric and propaganda that accuses men of being violent and abusive, the overall impression can easily turn to "holy shit I can't do anything because I'm going to get locked up for so much as breathing near a woman".

Even if that's not actually very likely, this constant messaging of "you are offensive, you are a criminal, you are a violent sexist, you expect women to be inert sexual objects", that has an effect, and it's not even reaching those who are violent and abusive sexists, because they don't care. It's reaching those of us who already cared and who are sensitive and vulnerable to claims that any move we make could be hurtful or criminally abusive, even if it wasn't intended to be and doesn't match any classic description of violence or harassment.

Big up the woman who made this video calling it out. We need more like her, we need that context to show us that the women who claim this absurdity are warped exceptions to the real life society we're trying to live in. We need a counter to the insanity that's breaking our brains.

What I think is so sad is that even though women like this one are so few, they take up so much space in the online debate- they are picked out of the crowd for their extremism and they become the voice of the movement. It is the same with the most radical members of the feminist and men's rights groups. We could have so much more conversation if we did not force our impression of the radical members over the sensible ones. Almost no women are like this- and the ones that are must have some mental problem. If you have experienced this multiple times then try to search for women in other communities- churches, higher education, sports, etc.

I always thought the idea that if a dude ask you out in a setting that you don’t want to be talked to in, then that means that dude is a creep, is a little bit overboard. Sure I can see how it’s annoying at like say a work environment, but creepy because he asked, no, that’s not SA. This woman here however didn’t even specify, she just says “have no business in talking to me”, and she seems violent over people just talking or looking at her.
