And, yes, they talk mostly about men.

That was painful to read. Why do people not care about this?

[–]crz8956[S] 21 points22 points23 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Quite painfull.

Because other "prublemz" took away all media space, and because society is conditioned since like 70th, that "majority" (men, whites, cis, etc) has no problems with of attention.

Humm, also, maybe, because when you try to solve problems of bigger part of society, you kinda risk a lot. Like imagine the Backlash, if you try to establish for instance, male health clinics, and they turn out to be of a bad quality of Healthcare. It will concern far more people, that you wish to argue with.

In the meantime, if you pick on a problem of some minor group, wich very much, may truly be on a fringe of society, they will be quite happy because finally somebody did something for them.

Also it is easier to wash dirty money on charity for "minor" cases.

But,atleast somewhere something is done about it. Since the beginning of war in Ukraine, there are a quite many people needing help. Legal, medical, psychological.

And one of organisations in Kiev City created a hot number to seek help, if you have been a victim of sexual or labor force exploitation. Not just by enemy soldiers, but in immigration, etc.

Yesterday I have seen their ads, and you know, what? They have 4 different videos featuring people in dire situations. Two of videos were about men, two about women. And the hot number recieves calls from both sexes, and process them. Like. Wow. They now can give you help, even if you are male rape survivor. That is a good move.

The majority of global population aren't white though, if you are advocating for men, you have to advocate for all. Like brown men from south asia, middle East and south american are majority.

Well, that is a question to Western media, actually.

[–]Marty-the-monkey 6 points7 points8 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Truthfully? Because it happens in countries where people care very little about what happens.

Atrocious things happen in South America and Africa, and gets little to no report because people don't care about people from those countries.

If taking it a step even further; People almost despises people from those countries, at least when it comes to helping them as evident by how refugees and immigrants are treated (compounded when looking at how male refugees are treated).

How many conservative pundits have you seen belittling male refugees for not staying in their own country to fix it themselves instead of running away like cowards?

This isn't going to be fixed in any way, shape or from until the west's attitude towards refugees is reformed, which I doubt is going to happen.

“In Uganda, survivors are at risk of arrest by police, as they are likely to assume that they're gay – a crime in this country and in 38 of the 53 African nations. They will probably be ostracised by friends, rejected by family and turned away by the UN and the myriad international NGOs that are equipped, trained and ready to help women.”

Have you guys ever thought about this? In every war in every time period, the soldiers have been almost exclusively men. Before the soldiers ransacked the cities, are all of these men abstaining from sex? I honestly believe the sexual assault numbers on men are far higher then we could ever imagine.

[–]DouglasWallace 6 points7 points8 points 3 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

There are several studies that have shown the vast majority of battle-related sexual violence is committed against men. Feminists will still pick up on the amount of it happening and quote it all as an attack on women.

[–]Desthr0 8 points9 points10 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Only a matter of time.

[–]Rod-Molina 7 points8 points9 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

"There are certain things you just don't believe can happen to a man, you get me?"

Pretty much why this is not talked about

[–]Morrighan1129 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This also goes to show that rape has nothing to do with the person being raped, and more the subjugation and humiliation the rapist is inflicting.

It's not a 'men hates womens' -it's shitty people violating people in the most brutal manner possible.

[–]Huffers1010 3 points4 points5 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

One of the issues here is the same as with many other kinds of violence against men. The response will be "but the perpetrators are men!"

Of course, any sane human being would respond with "So what?!"

Modern society, on the other hand, and particularly the more hardline feminist parts of it, tend to nod sagely on the unspoken but absolute and inviolable assumption that the only type of violence that matters is that where the victim is female.

[–]DouglasWallace 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

On reading the post here, my first thought was "The Guardian reporting in favour of men?!"

Then I realised it's from 2011. Yeah, ten years ago the feminist takeover there was far from complete. Will Storr only gets his slushy pieces published there these days.

There are quite a lot of studies of men raped in war/battlefield/the military in general. Here is one academic study but an internet search brings up plenty of uncomfortable reading.

Read the article very true especially in Ukrainian military prisoners being raped by Russian soldiers, the world needs to know how evil Russia is

[–]TRUCKBOB1 points 3 years ago [recovered] (6 children) | Copy Link

not gonna read it, but i assume it's about men raping other men?

[–]idCamo 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Not gonna answer your question, but I assume you’re an idiot

[–]brianthewizard1 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Why won’t you read it? Is it because it doesn’t fit your narrative?

Seems extremely ignorant not to read it especially when it speaks out about a glaring issue that is barely brought up because it doesn’t fit society’s narrative of “men don’t struggle.”

[–]TRUCKBOB1 points 3 years ago [recovered] (2 children) | Copy Link

looks like i was correct: its about men ass-raping other men

doesn't support the main narrative of this sub "womans are so mean to mans!!!"

[–]brianthewizard1 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Yup, you sure got it right, that’s what this sub is totally about, correct!

Are you that ignorant? Seriously?

This is something I don’t understand about you people, why come to a place such as this that sticks up for men’s mental health and calling out those who try to spread hatred and threaten our very way of life and start stirring shit up? Please tell me, I’d seriously love to know because it doesn’t make any logical sense whatsoever. You people don’t seem to want gender equality, which is hindering society as a whole, and just intentionally cause problems for men who are truly struggling. So, why do you invade places like this and start fucking around?

[–]TRUCKBOB 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

u made a valid point so i deleted what i put in this topic. there is too much hatred

[–]treeerty 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

“Everybody has heard the women’s story, but no body has heard the men’s” that’s tragic to hear, but unfortunately true

[–]My_name_sucks64564 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Couldn’t read the whole thing it was painful
