The issue with trying to change people's minds in any scenario is that the party that resorts to outbursts of anger ofte tends to be perceived as irrational.

Someone once said, I am going to paraphrase, and it might even have been Karen Straughan, that when discussing online, you are more often traying to sway the opinion of the audience, e.g. the readers, more than the opinion of the person you are talking to.

The most useful strategy is therefore to come with rational, composed arguments, and to especially avoid personal attacks.

It also helps to imagine the other person simply does not know things from your perspective. And in such situations, it may help to appeal to their empathy by trying to put them in a negative situation that a man does, but a woman doesn't often find herself in, like lacking basic protections from genital mutilation, or being forced to go into war or risking jail, or worse...

Or by bringing up tha society overwhelmingly cares about women. For example by highlighting the existence of all the different interest organizations and even whole ministries and various financial contributions and all the different campaigns oriented at women - and comparing it to the sorry lack of equivalent initiatives, agencies and government bodies oriented at men. Or, even through simple things like the much larger areas of clothing and various other stores that cater to women consumers.

I get that "both things can be true at the same time". Both men and women get "left behind" in similar, but different, ways.

The issue seems to be that women are taken far more seriously when they're "left behind" and men are straight up dismissed when they're "left behind".

Still, don't "shoot the messenger" when the messenger is empathetic or the empathetic crowd may shrink by 1. Done over and over enough times, and there'll be no one left in the empathetic crowd.

Men should be free to express their anger against misandry and lack of rights. Men have every single right to be mad. At least the person you were talking to wasn't that toxic and misandristic like feminists.

I’m a man and I know what pain men go through. And I can say with great certainty, that in a developed western country, if you feel like a victim because of your gender, you’re whiny and you need to grow up.

99.99 percent of people don’t care what’s between your legs, stop playing victim because men in Ukraine thousands of miles away are victims. Or women in Afghanistan you’ve never heard of are victims.

I'm just gonna say you were a little aggressive, I've been amazed at the debates that I had where an agreement was made jusy by being calm and not name calling, even politely calling rudeness in a debate om the internet made a huge difference. You can set the tone of an arguement very early and can change the tone they set by just being calm and rational.

You should have disengaged from the debate. That being said I get the frustration. Its incredibly annoying that 1) people make everything seem like it harms women more 2) when your talking about something that women are privileged in there is immediately someone to claim it happens equally to the genders. Especially ironic considering how often they use "when you are used to privilege equality feels like oppression" line.
