The AutoMod on r/facepalm. Don't know how much they enforce it, but it still feels good to see a major subreddit recognize misandry, especially since Reddit themselves refuse to do so.

TheTinMen is really something. People who go to this lengths to do such deep research to uncover systematic bias against men, with nothing in return is not just rare, it's unique.

Thank you!

Most guys spend their whole lives with their mouths shut or holding back. Women usually immediately blow up when something is a problem and are quicker to speak usually before they put their head to it as has been my experience; and they usually escalate quicker without holding back.

Double standard is true.. I don't however think that they are necessarily more violent.. but it is more from a conditioning stand point of view for me.

You can't really state they are more this or more that when the truth is everyone can actually do and be anything, in any situation.

[–]NeoVidia 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I would confidently say that yes they are. But its not directly tied to gender. Its currently not punished but even actively encouraged for woman, and the consequences are barely existent. When violence is a tool more easily at your disposal them its not surprising it will be used.

  1. Happy cake day 🥳

  2. They've been since they first started, they almost never miss, much thanks to the thorough research that goes behind every post they make

[–]ThuhOneAndOnly1 points 3 years ago [recovered] (20 children) | Copy Link

Women are just as likely as men to get physical. It’s been proven time and time again. However men are significantly more likely to put their spouse in the hospital. At least according to most Hospitals that compile this data.

So whether you think it’s a male problem, a female problem, or both is up to you. But that’s the facts.

[–]Gjaukulf407[S] 7 points8 points9 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Men are also less likely to go to hospital and utilize health care visits in general and thats also a fact. Many men who are abused never go to the hospital.

[–]KochiraJin 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The Duluth model can skew hospital data. Men are unlikely to report injuries from DV as such if it can land them in jail.

[–]VisionarySeagull 3 points4 points5 points 3 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

In a very unintentional way, you've made a great point.

You see, the post is discussing hard-to-swallow pills, and how one of those might be that women are every bit as physically abusive as men, if not more. The first thing you did was reject it on an emotional level because you didn't want to acknowledge that fact, and then you tried to reason it away with "...but men commit more severely violent acts!*

You are exactly what we're talking about here. Go eat your vegetables.

[–]ThuhOneAndOnly1 points 3 years ago [recovered] (11 children) | Copy Link

I just gave the facts. I didn’t reject anything.

[–]VisionarySeagull 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

Yeah see, it's not relevant to the point though. You didn't just give "the facts"--you twisted a discussion about one thing into something that suits your own agenda.

I think you need to have a second of introspection. Why was your first reaction to the fact that women are more often the aggressors in domestic violence than men to say "...But male on female domestic violence is worse!"? Why did you immediately feel the need to change the discussion into something that you can handle more on an emotional level?

You could have contributed a million different ways to this discussion. Instead, you said "But men do it far worse!"

[–]ThuhOneAndOnly1 points 3 years ago [recovered] (9 children) | Copy Link

Someone: claims male and female violence are just as bad.

Me: no one is worse because there are more devastating outcomes.

You: why did you change the subject?

[–]VisionarySeagull 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

I didn't reject anything.

I like how at least you're not pretending anymore.

Well, the thing is you kind of did reject it. After decades of feminists rejecting the female-on-male domestic violence existed in the first place (while many of them were perpetrators in their own interpersonal relationships), now your argument is "Well it's worse when men do it!"

People like you do anything to enable female abusers.

[–]ThuhOneAndOnly1 points 3 years ago [recovered] (7 children) | Copy Link

Yes. Saying women are hospitalized more (a fact) is enabling female abusers. That makes sense. I guess in order to support male victims you have to lie about who is hospitalized more.

[–]VisionarySeagull 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Saying women are hospitalized more so that male-on-female domestic violence is worse is only derailing the discussion that this post is about. It is already a notoriously under-discussed point that women are every bit as likely as men, if not more likely, to physically assault their partners. It is such a common misconception that there is an entire model of domestic violence (the Duluth Model) based upon it.

You charged into the post to say that men's domestic violence is worse. You didn't like the attention being off women even for a second, and therefore you made it about yourself.

Yes, you are enabling female abusers.

[–]Low_Cranberry_4024 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Bro stop arguing with this guy his a two day old account that has only been starting up trouble and arguing in bad faith.

[–]ThuhOneAndOnly1 points 3 years ago [recovered] (3 children) | Copy Link

Someone said female violence was just as bad. That’s wrong because male violence has more devastating results. I pointed out the misinformation.

I suppose being free to spread misinformation would be what you feel is fair.

[–]VisionarySeagull 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

It's funny what you're doing. I'm laying out why you were derailing, but in every post, you repeat the same exact topic point: male violence is worse. You repeat it, nearly word for word, every single time you comment.

It's not even about the discussion we're having. You're deliberately repeating it because repetition is an excellent way to reinforce propaganda. You believe that saying the same thing over and over again will further deflect away from the original topic.

Again, this is how people like you enable female abusers. I sincerely hope that you are never in a situation where a man or a woman is abusive towards you, because I acknowledge that both are horrible.

By the way, your data on emergency room visits ... I strongly considered not going to the ER when my ex stabbed me. Only when I tried to operate on myself, went to sleep, and woke up the next morning covered in blood did I finally go to the hospital. I am just happy that the doctor bought my story about it being an accidental injury. There are many men like me who would not seek medical attention after being physically abused by a woman because they would automatically be arrested for doing so.

Stop standing up for abusers, whether they be male or female. Have some introspection and recognize that you are biased against men.

[–]Fix-Advanced 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Bringing up the "facts" in a pathetic attempt to derail and invalidate a discussion makes you a POS. What you're doing here is essentially the same thing as bringing up the "facts" about crime statistics in a discussion about police brutality.

[–]operative87 9 points10 points11 points 3 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

The trouble is the double standard in my opinion at least. When a woman is violent towards a man no one cares.

The fact that men are capable of causing harm shouldn’t make it ok to be violent towards us which is where we are right now.

[–]ThuhOneAndOnly1 points 3 years ago [recovered] (3 children) | Copy Link

You think it’s unreasonable that people react lesser to violence that has less extreme results? That seems very fair to me. Reactions are based on damage caused, not intent. Running a red light is a ticket. Running a red light and killing someone is manslaughter. Same crime, but society reacts way stronger to the latter because of the damage done.

[–]operative87 6 points7 points8 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

People don’t react at all and the reality is that sadly rings true even when women do cause harm.

That said violence should always be unacceptable but that’s just not how the world is.

[–]Square-Ship-9609 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The idea that emotional damage is lesser than physical damage is hidden in this argument. Even if it doesn't land you in the hospital it does leave deep emotional scars.

I agree that male violence needs a more immediate response. That is, the victim must be removed immediately from the dangerous situation.

[–]Greg_W_Allan 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Reactions are based on damage caused, not intent.

Bye bye mens rea. Why not indeed? We've already done away with the presumption of innocence.

[+]BoxxyFoxxy 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Ah.

This explains a lot.

I was worried about your potential girlfriends, but now I see you won’t ever have any. Good.
