My best guess is that your boss, oddly enough likes you, and is just giving you comedic ribbing as a form of male ritual bonding that old guys often do with each other and younger guys they want to invite to "join the club" or "brotherhood". He gave you an wage increase, which means he values you. He's giving you some offhand compliments while giving you a little grief as well. In fact, you have more standing with your boss than if he were ignoring you completely or just exchanging polite pleasantries.

OP, would it kill you to give your boss a little deference by virtue of his position? Social interaction is much more nuanced then a power struggle among men. If I had a boss like yours, and he told me I should be dating more women, I would laugh and tell him I could learn a lot from him, and say we'll have to go out for a beer sometime so you can tell me all about it. Pay some compliments. Show some deference. It'll probably come back to you tenfold than it would if you get all sour over it.
