Much of modern society seems to have been brainwashed into believing that masculinity is a bad thing. Or that it is something that has to be apologized for. And many men have been brainwashed or gaslighted into thinking their own masculinity is something that has to be...hidden, apologized for, rationalized, whatever. And this is even though all the objective evidence demonstrates that maleness and masculinity is an essential part of the universe.

Masculinity is something essential in the universe, like the process of photosynthesis or the water molecule. It exists, it is part of the universe. Maleness is part of all vertebrates, all mammals. So having to account for it or having to justifying its existence is like trying to give an ethical rationale or apology for the existence of wood. Wood just exists. It's presence in the world doesn't need to be justified. And there is nothing inherently bad about wood. What DOES demand justification is assuming wood, water, or maleness has to give a reason for why it should be permitted to exist.

So claiming masculinity is 'toxic' is like claiming water is inherently 'toxic'. It doesn't make any sense.

Why do some people do it? To try to make people who have masculinity feel weak. They hate the fact that masculinity is an essential part of the universe. They can't deny its existence, so they downgrade its importance.

There are some males who are not very good people. There are some females who are not very good people. But they are not good people because (hopefully) they are on their way to becoming better people; they are not bad because of their gender. Their gender does not determine whether they are good or bad. Any rumors to the contrary are just irrational nonsense.

Masculinity is the expression of maleness in our species. There is no reason we have to justify the existence of males in any other mammalian species; in fact, the very implication that one might have to is bizarre. So why would anyone have to justify - find a rationale - the existence of maleness in our own species?

Definitions of masculinity may change. Or more precisely, the behaviors associated with being a human male, or the behavior patterns that symbolically represent it, may change. In many cultures undergoing a painful physical or scarring procedure while stoically enduring pain, such as circumcision, was a behavior or ritual that symbolically represented masculinity. That ritual has fallen by the wayside in most modern cultures but it is still practiced in some indigenous cultures.

The rituals and symbolic meanings of masculinity may change over time or vary between cultures. But masculinity itself persists because it is part of the universe.

In modern life, there is tremendous freedom of opportunity for the individual male to decide for themselves what it means to be a man, to be the man that you are and want to be. For example, letting yourself become a victim of paternity fraud is, frankly speaking, unmanly. Having your own opinions about manhood and standing your ground in face of opposition - most of which is ephemeral bullshit anyway - is a manly thing to do.

You can define and perform your own rituals that symbolically represent your masculinity: make yourself smarter, make yourself more productive, make yourself into someone or something that others admire and want to emulate. Make yourself stronger. Manage your time and money better. Put people that make you weak out of your life. Don't do things or pay attention to things that make you weak. Much of pop culture, celebrity culture, advertising, outrage bait, etc., is designed and intended to make you weak.

Respect your masculinity. Pay tribute to it. Cherish it. It is something worth holding on to and one shouldn't take it for granted. You don't have to apologize for it, and never give ground or an ear to anyone who tells you otherwise. Find new behaviors or attitudes that symbolically represent it or pay tribute to it. They don't have to be the same as anybody else's. But most importantly, don't put physical energy, mental energy, or time into things that make you weak.

Including listening to your mother.

My ex-wife said to my face that "all the problems in the world are caused by straight white men".. which is what I am. But I would catch so much shit from her if I even joked about women being bad drivers (and of course she was a terrible driver). Women are biologically programmed to view men as resources, men are biologically programmed to protect women; not saying that mothers don't love their sons (except in extreme circumstances) but men are at a disadvantage socially because men view other men differently than women and don't provide support each other. This of course reinforces men's desire to protect the women who give them support, except said support is always conditional on what the man can provide to the woman.

Want some unsolicited advice? Don't marry, it's a legal contract that she will be incentivized to break and and take half of everything YOU earned, and if you refuse to comply police will show up at your house with guns. Work out, get an education, make money, and live a good life cycling thru short relationships with young women then retire to a beach somewhere warm with nice scenery.

Extremists views are found in anything, just as anyone can be racist, or sexists.

I am sorry that you, at such a young age, has to have a mother who will spout such hate. I grew up with this too and she never changed. To this day my mother is not on my side, she never will be. So in this, I feel your pain but I want to offer up some advice that has taken me a long time to learn.

Think of what is wrong with her as a sickness, because that is what it is. It is an illness caused by misinformation, lies and propaganda. People are easier to control when they are divided and fight amongst each other; this sickness is part of that. It is put into people that this person or that person is to blame.

Your mom is sick. She believes a bunch of lies, and propaganda thrown at her because she wants to explain off the problems she has had in life and is unable to look at herself and be accountable for her own mistakes in life. These mistakes do not include you nor are they in anyway your responsibility. She has to learn on her own what is wrong with her thinking and self examine. Much like the alcoholic or drug addict, you can't help them till they reach out for the help.

Is everything I said cruel and harsh? Yes. It is the sad reality of things. Most people like this can not be helped. I did offer the advice to another poster today to remember their Dr. King and passive resistance. This is a good tool, this might bring about your mothers natural instinct to be a mother and not insult her own son! However, don't count on this working, as young man you will need to fend for yourself at this point and learn to give yourself the affection that you are now lacking

This is the issue I ran into, the lack from a parent in this way can damage future relationships. I am saying be aware of it, be ready for it and don't let her control how you live your life. Start your distancing now, and realize .. no, my mom is just sick. it has nothing to do with me.

Because in reality it doesn't, yes there are bad people out there, and they do bad things, their gender, religion or ethnic backgrounds have nothing to do with the bad things they do. For every one man that does something bad, there is thousands who don't. for every woman who cheats, lies and manipulates there is thousands who don't.

you stay strong to your rational, accountable mind. Realize that silence isn't acceptance that you are wrong, but the knowledge that you are stronger and above the petty foolish arguments of weaker minded people. More so, don't permit the influence of someone else hate to control how you feel.

Sorry you have to grow up in a fucked up world, but just because the world has some things bad about it, doesn't mean there isn't good in it. chose to see what you want to be. You want good in this world, then be the good, and that is what you see.
