First let me mention that it would also help women. But as most of us here know men generally feel economic hardships harder. Men are more likely to be homeless, work more hours, be more reliant on economic status for creating a relationship and building a family, etc. Because of this greater impact men feel in the class struggle, I feel this is appropriate here.

In the US and many other countries, property taxes are levied on individuals for their homes are cars. An average person pays $2149 in property taxes each year, with median net worth being about $121k. That's about a 2% wealth tax.

Property taxes are more or less a wealth tax, an extremely regressive one.
Where is the majority of wealth stored for many Americans?
Their home.
Where is the majority of wealth stored for wealthy Americans?
Stocks and other forms of business ownership.

Even if Jeff Bezos has a $200M house and a $500M yacht, 100 cars, yada yada, let's call it $2 billion dollars worth of stuff. He (presumably) pays property taxes on $2 billion each year. Whereas a 2% wealth tax would be paying $2 billion in taxes a year!

Now take a person with a $300k house, a $200k mortgage, and not much else in property. They pay property taxes on $300k when they only own $100k. That's paying property taxes on 300% of their wealth!

The top 1% own 32% of property/wealth. If stock ownership was subject to property tax (or a wealth tax created on wealthy individuals), and property taxes lowered for the working class, then working class men would be better off financially and home ownership would be less of a financial burden. This is one change out of many that America needs to make.
