When the "equity" argument no longer places women in the victim seat in higher education, these academics believe its time to switch to another basis for womens education privilege

Missing from this examination of why people are or are not entering universities in Australia, is any acknowledgement of the rapid decline male enrolments. Despite women now accounting for more than 60% of all enrolments, these academics, all women, focus of Indigenous people (and rightly so) and women (sexism).

Based on the recent "Australian Universities Accord Panel Discussion Paper", these academics have written a book about a new way of approaching disadvantage in university education. The discussion paper concludes that "the impact of changes to student contributions is not being felt evenly across different student groups, with female and First Nations students being most affected by the largest fee increases introduced by the JRG changes. This is because the fields of study with the highest increases in student contributions, such as humanities and communications, are fields in which these students are over-represented."

The authors apparently forget other schools of university education where women dominate, such as nursing, education, business, and others where women are equally affected such as the medical sciences (including medicine) and law.

Whst really astonishes, is tht a well imformed government report, and a book by Australian education academics, remains willfully blind to the biggest, most rapid chnge in Australian university access over the last several decades, because those impacted are male.

In my profession, the uni demographic is about 90% female. This year's incoming class is 94% female. Nobody cares as all almost all the academics are female. Of course, there would be panic and action plans if the genders were reversed.
