This is going to be long winded since I'm still feeling the effects of it.

My girlfriend and I went down to Tucson AZ today so I could sell a firearm and collect some money for rent since I'm laid off and she's in college. After 2 hours of driving, an hour of dicking around with the guy who insisted on testing the gun before he bought under the condition of another $100. So whatever. It comes time to leave and my girlfriend (who is an unstable person generally speaking) refuses to shut the car door. I mutter under my breath "maybe I should leave you in Tucson". Well all hell breaks loose. Cue to the next 15 minutes of driving out of the city with a woman screaming at the top of her lungs how awful a person I am and how much of a prick/asshole/douchebag/misogynist I am.

We get on the highway and she continues her shit of yelling at the top of her lungs. We made it maybe 15 minutes out of Tucson when she spits on me and then rubs it literally all over my face like a shaving lather. All of this happened while she had her hand on the door asking me "do you want to die today?" I pulled over and she proceeded to put her foot in the now open passenger door. She's threatening me saying "we're not going anywhere until you apologize for being a douchebag prick to me." I had nothing to say back so I just kept my mouth shut.

Moving forward about an hour later she decides that she has had enough stalling our 2 hour drive back to phoenix and had things to do. So we're on the road and I think things are ok atleast for the short term. We stop at red lobster and eat then go home. When we get home my main priority is watching "the walking dead" since it's the season break and all. So she's doing homework and starts in with I don't think you should have a gun "you're way too angry." I defer to the fact that I have a CCW license in 2 states and that it is her opinion. She goes off on a tangent that I've been drinking (yes, one foster's oil can over the course of an hour of TWD). She was rambling while I was trying to fall asleep and then said something about my gun and saying she would teach me a lesson. I immediately sat up and she was gone. My gun now missing from my bedside I got concerned and locked the door to my room and called 911.

The police show up in seconds and I get out my CCW licenses while I'm still on the phone with the operator then they cuff me and have me standing outside in my PJ's with just a jacket on. They discuss things with me and I'm as lucid as I've ever been. Eventually they say I'm free to go but need to wait outside while she gets clothes. Finally she gets her stuff and leaves, the police return my handgun which she stole from me and let me back into my apartment.

Meanwhile my room mate was cuffed as well and dragged out at gun point for the shit show. I now have to explain to him what happened and frankly I have no idea how. I gave him the best " I tried to handle it" talk but I still think it's inadequate. Now I'm alone other than my room mate with my door code changed hoping she doesn't come back except to get her things and wondering what could've happened. I complied with all of the police officer's commands but I can't shake the feeling that if I hadn't, I might be dead. So that's where I'm at. I plan on getting a restraining order today or tomorrow and going from there. Thanks for sticking with this if you read this far.

TL;DR: Had my gun stolen by crazy girlfriend while I was half asleep. Crazy girlfriend called the cops on me stating I was a danger to myself and others. Cops show up and don't charge me with anything saying that I may have "just pissed her off". They release me, I have no idea what to do.

Extra info

  • She was freely walking around while I was cuffed even though I had called to report an armed woman threatening me.

  • Other than being let go I was treated like I was guilty of something the entire time.

  • I want to consult with a lawyer and figure out what if any liability I have for all of this or what she could sue me for if anything.
