The problem with anti-hate speech laws and things like this is who gets to define what is intolerant or hateful? Once you draw a line and make certain speech illegal who's to say someone else won't move that line as a tool to censor speech they just don't agree with. So we must protect the speech even of those who actually are hateful so that we may live in a free society.

A EUROPEAN FRAMEWORK NATIONAL STATUTE FOR THE PROMOTION OF TOLERANCE

It starts out sounding so reasonable and fair to everyone, but as you go along you see that it is designed to privilege some groups over others:

(i) Members of vulnerable and disadvantaged groups are entitled to a special protection, additional to the general protection that has to be provided by the Government to every person within the State. (ii) The special protection afforded to members of vulnerable and disadvantaged groups may imply a preferential treatment. Strictly speaking, this preferential treatment goes beyond mere respect and acceptance lying at the root of tolerance (see the definition of tolerance in Section 1(d)). Still, the present provision is justified by the linkage between historical intolerance and vulnerability.

So the concerns of women will always be prioritized over those of men.

Now comes the scary part: those who can claim "special protection" will be able to persecute and criminalize those who oppose their agenda by falsely accusing them of "hate crimes", "incitement to violence", or "group libel". Self declared victims will receive free legal aid to use the legal system to attack their opponents, while the accused will have to cover their own legal defense. Those found guilty may be imprisoned and fined, while minors will be sent to "rehabilitation programmes" for re-education. Given the expense of legal defense and the risk of an adverse outcome, even the threat of an accusation would be a devastating weapon in the hands of people who have proven themselves willing to abuse it.

Section 7. Penal Sanctions (a) The following acts will be regarded as criminal offences punishable as aggravated crimes: (i) Hate crimes as defined in Section 1(c). (ii) Incitement to violence against a group as defined in Section 1(a). (iii) Group libel as defined in Section 1(b).

(b)Juveniles convicted of committing crimes listed in paragraph (a) will be required to undergo a rehabilitation programme designed to instill in them a culture of tolerance.10 (c) Crimes listed in paragraph (a) will not be considered political offences for purposes of extradition. (d) (e) Victims of crimes listed in paragraph (a) will have a legal standing to bring a case against the perpetrators, as well as a right to redress. (f) Free legal aid will be offered to victims of crimes listed in paragraph (a), irrespective of qualification in terms of impecuniosity.

Imagine a world where any SRSer or rad-fem could have us all thrown in jail for any discussion on men's rights that challenges feminist orthodoxy. That's the goal of this proposed legislation.

When one takes an ideology of power to its extreme, whether right or left, one creates totalitarianism. This is what leftist totalitarianism looks like:

Only ideas approved by the state will be tolerated - all others will labeled "intolerance" and punished and suppressed.

The full powers of the state will be used to enforce the favored ideology and suppress all others.

These “special administrative units,” the report says, “should preferably operate within the Ministry of Justice.”

"Justice" becomes a tool of political enforcement.

Certain favored groups will be privileged over others. Not only will the privileged groups be exempted from restrictions on "intolerance", their intolerance will be officially encouraged.

This is possibly the most frightening political development of the last 50 years. It is akin to watching the rise of the Nazis and other right-totalitarian states prior to WWII, or the brutal enforcement of Marxism under Stalin and Mao. If successful it will mean the end of free democracy in Europe.

How hilarious it says it wants to eliminate "totalitarian ideologies" and in the same breath it wants to eliminate "anti-feminism" - a movement devoted almost entirely to eliminating a totalitarian ideology. The stupidity of these idiots. Anti-feminism IS NOT anti-women.

This is a non story.

The document referred to was produced by ‘The European Council on Tolerance and Reconciliation’. This is a non-governmental organisation that has nothing to do with the European Union and doesn’t have any power to draft or introduce EU law.

The document was simply presented to the Parliament’s Civil Liberties Committee. However, this matter is NOT being discussed or considered or voted on by the European Parliament, and there are NO plans to do so. This is NOT going to be European Union law.
