Women have a lot of support when it comes to insecurity about their bodies in the western world. I know this is good and this is what should happen. I know many women do not feel beautiful and have shitty self-esteem.

However, one cannot deny the sheer amount of support they get would never, EVER, be received by male counterparts.

Where is a video telling men they are funny? Clever? That they are worth more than how defined their abs are or their car? That they are not just a wallet or just a failure? That they are not destined to be the "deadbeat dad" that could never had the same relationship with his children as the mother?

And this extends to beyond just this simple video found on my newsfeed.

Check out all the dove beauty campaigns for women. And this is JUST by Dove. There are plenty of these. They are applauded and reviewed and all over the newspapers and shared in classrooms and just...everywhere. EVery time a new one comes out it's immediately on Facebook and discussed. People care.

I'm sure you may have noticed there is a male version on there. Here it is. I don't remember seeing this on TV, or Facebook, or discussed on the news/popular chat shows. It barely scraped 1/4 of a million views. It was posted FOUR YEARS AGO. The most recent Dove campaign ad is only SIX MONTHS OLD and already has 3.3 million views.

So yes, I understand women should get support and should feel beautiful. However, they are not exclusive in needing that right. Many men are insecure and self-conscious but go completely and utterly ignored. Anything that may reach out to them (as seen above) is completely ignored because it's not what people care or talk about.

Just as women's ideal bodies are either considered very skinny if you are young (very unattainable/unhealthy) or slender with voluptuous curves (dependant on genetics and a bit on your eating/exercising habits), men have the ideals of being a very skinny, effeminate emo-ish boy wile young (unattainable/unhealthy) or low BF% with massive six packs and arms bursting out of their shirts (dependent on genetics and moderately on your eating/exercising habits).

We all have the same issue. Yet only one side gets any support or indeed any vague interest for it.
