It seems to be very similar to feminism, actually! (real feminism, not what you'd call "radical" feminism).

If that's what you want then it's pretty much your only option, which is unfortunate. As a man, I either have to a) always wear a condom, b) trust that my partner is using protection and it's working, or c) get a surgery that may be difficult to reverse and possibly have complications (temporary or prolonged pain being the most common). It's not a great option but, if I never wanted children, it's the best option available to me seeing as how I have no reproductive rights after sex has taken place.

Personally, I wouldn't consider this option until after having children and knowing I was done (since I do want them some day). Even to those who think they don't, it's not a decision to be taken lightly and many opt to freeze some sperm beforehand on the off chance they want to start a family. I would much rather have a better treatment for men or (hopefully) someday a male pill.

As for cost, I looked it up and in Canada it's free but in the States (depending on where it gets done/insurance I guess) it could be anywhere from $100-$1200. I don't know if this would change under the affordable care act. Hope this helps.

How do I feel about vasectomy? Getting one was the best decision I ever made. I'm only sad I didn't get it done sooner.

After losing almost all of my access to my two son's in the family court along with the house and pretty much everything in it plus 12 years down (and 18 months to go) of child support that amounts to a mortgage sized pay deduction every month - I'm fine with it. My current partner had children (almost adults when we met) and did not want any more which sort of worked out well because after going through the above the first thing I did was get the snip. Cost? NZD $350 done at family planning, who incidentally gave me the third degree about asking for this at age 28. In some way's I'm fortunate that I had children fairly young - I've finally been able to scrape enough together to have a house with my partner (who bless her has stuck with me through thick and thin - money has certainly been on the slim side - she is as far from the money grabbing abusive gold digger my ex was as it is possible to be).

Is it a good idea? Weigh the risks and make the decision for yourself. Get some frozen and stored if you are young and do not already have children. I am at least not exposed to any further possibility of child support although if my current relationship fell apart I am exposed to losing 1/2 the assets.. which is a risk I have to take or face up to it and swallow the red pill and go my own way. That may yet happen.

Oh Pain? Not if it's done correctly. My left side wasn't properly numbed so the pain was horrific till they realized their glitch and corrected it. Long term - No effect on sex drive or function, it sometimes aches a little down there, but nothing intolerable.

It IS a good solution if you are hell bent on MGTOW path from the git go of your adult life. It's also something I would look at as a forever solution and treat as such when deciding - Can't emphasize that enough.

As I understand it the sperm cells are what make semen white and thick. Remove them and you get watery stuff. Most people probably won't care, but it's something to take into account for anyone considering the procedure.

I had it done, and I'm glad I did. I don't want kids now, or ever.
As for insurance coverage, I'm sure it depends on your insurance. Mine was covered. If you're paying for it yourself, you'd be looking at anywhere from $300-1,000.
I highly recommend doing it, but only if you are absolutely certain you don't ever want kids. If you're considering freezing sperm, then you admit you might want kids, and should consider an alternative.
