I think it's incredibly important to understand how activism arises. Typically, activists are angry or upset due to something that has happened to them or something that they care deeply about.

    In the case of women, it may be a result of constantly being belittled, having been abused (sexually or otherwise), lack of access and support with regard to healthcare, or a disparity in pay. Whatever the reason, she may find that there are other activists with similar perspectives and life experiences who wish to right the wrongs that she has personally faced.

    Insofar as motivations are concerned, it's not much different for men. Perhaps a man has not been given enough emotional support, told to "suck it up and be a man" too much in his life, been abused (sexually or otherwise), or constantly expected to provide and perform. Whatever the case may be, he may find himself wanting to right the wrongs that he has personally faced.

    There is a general problem that arises from a lack of social understanding that causes unnecessary chaos and political strife between women and men activists. There aren't many women activists for men, and there aren't many men activists for women who can share the experience enough to feel compelled to devote significant energy toward activism. This makes sense if we refer back to how activism arises in the first place.

    So what to do?

    Ignoring the pissing contests that inevitably occur due to social misunderstandings, can there be any reconciliation between those with the same goal if they have what appear to be radically different perspectives, and therefore different methods?
