I have been in the tech industry in some way shape or form since 1995. I have done convention circuits, sales, software support, hardware support, server support and other things professionally. While there is a little crudeness in the tech world there is also a double boatload of female privilege. If there are 4 job openings and 100 men apply and 1 barely qualified or sometime even slightly under qualified female applies off are the female is going to get one of those jobs.

I have seen women who could not hack the job get promoted to a higher paying position just to avoid firing them. Examples I have seen include A service coordinator who did not know the problems well enough to send the right onsite engineers to the job sites. She was promoted to ,get this I am not kidding, Project manager. Another case wasof the level1 supports (about 90 men and 3 female) An Ops positioned opened. On one hand you have me. Not only was I the fastest per case time. I was highest resolution percentage. On the other hand you have one female applying against me. Mediocre call resolution, long case times. By every metric I was better and I had seniority. Guess who got the promotion.

The tech industry bends over backwards for the few women in it.

Women enter a male dominated area of the work force and expect the majority to conform to them. However if a male enters a female dominated area they are expected to conform to the will of the majority.

I felt like a little Kid when I started in the tech industry, it is the type of industry where you will remain a Peon until you get your foot in the door to a serious role, This woman is full of shit.

Also women get great treatment in the tech industry once they prove they know what they are talking about, I have seen women get promoted and succeed in important roles many a time, however the women interested in pursuing a career in IT/Technology is small.

Also one of the largest IT companies in my country (Australia) was founded by is co-owned and run by a female managing director........ so yeah.
