My advice to the guy would be to dump this girl. My advice to the girl and to her entourage of online enablers is a bit more complicated.

It's not hard to piece together the most likely way that this happened. A shy, clueless girl who'd previously "never been kissed" was in a committed relationship for 1.5 years when suddenly, out of the blue, other men started showing interest in her. Suddenly, she became "bored" with her relationship and wanted to try out other men. Let's not kid ourselves, this wouldn't have happened unless other men started showing interest in her - she's not nearly confident enough to set out on her own; she doesn't even believe that she'll ever find a better man than her current boyfriend. Her characterization that she simply became "bored" with her boyfriend is contradicted by her description of the new and exciting things that he's able to for her. This sounds to me like a classic case of female bad behavior - she is cheating on him and projecting her own indecisiveness onto him. He's supposedly having a hard time accepting the breakup, but she's the one writing to an advice column about whether or not she should actually break up with him. Cognitive dissonance through and through. She's the one using the tired, meaningless cliches of loving him but not being in love with him, as though spewing some inane gibberish will impart some profound depth to her shallow hypergamy.

No one over the age of 16 should have to be told that she'll meet plenty of other great guys in her life. She should be told to start acting like an adult. She's 24 and she's graduated from college. As much as I don't wish it upon any man, she's old enough to get married and have kids. There's no use in indulging her ego, telling her how lovely and desirable she is. If she thinks that she will never find a better guy then she's probably right. She should take that into account. She should be reminded that she doesn't actually need to fuck someone new every year just to make herself feel like she's sexy. She should be told to pull her head out of her ass and grow some self esteem for her own sake, so that she can lead a stable and sustainable life without fucking herself and her lovers over every time some other guy flirts with her and she feels like she could use an ego boost.

As a final thought, I absolutely detest the sense of ownership that these women have over men's lives. Everyone is telling her how she should take it upon herself to make a unilateral decision based on what she perceives to be his own best interest. From a masculine perspective, he's probably thinking about his sunk costs - perhaps the enormous strain she has put on his finances, let alone the 1.5 years of his life pursuing her - but from a feminine perspective, as long as she doesn't take a single dollar more after she mentally checks out, then she's a saint and actually acted in his own best interest. This is why they simply can't allow themselves to actually take the man's perspective into account. It's because it's anything but in his best interests, if any of them would actually care to admit it. But that goes back to what I said about starting to act like adults and taking responsibility for their adult lives.

The guy's clingy, keeps asking her out and doing all these nice things, smothering her with attention. She doesn't like it and keeps telling him to stop, but thinks he loves her very much so is sad to let him go, I guess it makes her a gold digger /s

So he made too little to take her out before, and now double that. So... from about $15/hr to maybe 30? 20 to 40? Either way, she is not even gold-digging a wealthy person... She is scamming a guy who makes not much more than the national median income. What a catch she must be.

I typed this first, "We are over looking that he may be hoping that now that can spend more on him, she'll take him back. Not a situation I want to be in, but if they can honestly agree that's what they want, let them."

Then before I hit submit it became:

"She doesn't love him, like him, or even respect him. It's not even about the money, he has none, it's just made it more bearable for her. She shouldn't settle for him, and he should let the shallow insecure user go."

Lets not ignore this stupid moron. He's part of the problem, if anything he's the type of man who started the radical feminist problem in the first place. Overly sensitive, low self esteem, probably low test levels, can't just realize the girl's a cunt and move on. He's a problem, he really is.
