I was sexually active at 15...and it was about damn time as far as I was concerned. I certainly don't recall it being a "horrible ordeal"...except for those times I had to sit through dinner with a girls parents before we could get to the sex.

I think we can maintain some cognitive separation here and acknowledge there CAN be a crime without there being a victim, at least in the common use of the term.

The teacher broke the law and violated statutory rape laws, fine...let's give her what the law says she has coming. But pretending that little Jimmy Fingerbang (not his real name) was raped feels like we're embracing an idea that's fundamentally pretty dumb.

a lot of people are saying bc she is hot, it was great for the kid. what if she wasn't as hot as they'd like, would she of had been persecuted more, and defended less?

they say the boy will "goto bed with nightmares" in quotes, since shes hot and he got to fuck her. but had this been a handsome man, no one would say "SHOOT! ID RIDE HIM ALL NIGHT with my 16 yr old body" no... they'd say "he took advantage of her, he should have known better, she put her trust in him!"

I think many of us would agree that the fact that the boy's attorney said he had gone through a "horrible ordeal," is, well, interesting.

There is no context here, and I'm disappointed in the blog writer for jumping all over those 2 words. I clicked through to the news article, and there's really no more information on that. The "horrible ordeal" might not be describing the act of sex. Odds are, he had a pleasant time when he was banging her. Maybe the aftermath is horrible. Or maybe he's feeling guilt. Maybe she was popular teacher, and all the other kids are bullying him for putting her out of the job.

I don't fucking know.

All I know is, it was wrong of this woman to have a sexual relationship with her student. It'd be wrong no matter who was of whatever gender, or how attractive the participants were. It compromises the education of the student and the other students, it's unlawful because the student was not of age, and it's morally wrong because adults should not have sex with young teenagers.

Teacher is a pedophile (or a pederast if you want to be a pedant... if you'll excuse the alliteration), end of story.

When I was 15, I was interested in girls my age, and while I did have some sort of crush on a few older girls, I never would have acted on it. Having a fantasy and acting on it are two different things.

Also, the teacher is a figure of authority.
