Actual gamers don't care.

I'd say the biggest gender related issue is people who are perceived as being female getting vastly better treatment by the community. Admittedly my newest Star Trek Online character is a female Romulan for that very purpose, I get help when I ask for it.

It's fairly long, but it's hard to distinguish where he stops focusing on the actual game and starts looking at the broader issues.

I think it's worth watching the whole thing, because he gives an interesting opinion on the reviewers who make these 'anti-misogyny' reviews too.

If you are not much of a gamer, or don't have a lot of time, don't bother with this, but I found it interesting

It's pretty ridiculous, when you consider the fact that men, and their bodies, are depicted in just as unrealistic ways or the fact that they are taking objection to certain female characters, out of countless others, simply because they embody certain features that heterosexual men might like. At the end of the day, these types of games typically aim to have different characters, with different characteristics and storylines, to attract different types of consumers. It is completely unrealistic, if not even misandric, to demand that certain characters be excluded from the game entirely, simply because they embody traits in others that you are prejudiced against(this would be like people screaming at the inclusion of a gay characters, and boycotting the game to have that one character removed altogether); especially when those traits appeal to the biggest, most devoted and supporting group there is.

Sorry, but the vast majority of heterosexual men(who are both the majority of consumers and developers) like beauty, fantasy, women and sex(regardless of age). If you are offended by that notion, or find those particular fantasies to be offensive to you, then not only do you have the choice to not support the game but you also have the choice to not pick those characters altogether. Either way, that certainly doesn't give misandric individuals to belittle, attack or insult their heterosexuality. How many men do you see out there screaming for books like twilight and fifty shades of grey to be removed from shelves or rewritten to cater to men? This is simply appalling.
