it was downright pouring with rain like god had taken this location to pee on and i had my coat on some girl i knew who despite me warning her to take a coat was wearing a tank top and getting soaked in the rain when she asked me for my coat i told her no and got called a deadbeat asshole who will never get a girlfriend just because i was prepared for bad weather and she expects me to put myself in a very unfavorable position to keep her happy

I had a teacher who was a devout Feminist, proudly declared it in class every chance she had and made it a point to say that Reddit users were "Privileged, white, Christian, males" after I told her about something I read on Reddit about Dr Who. She immediately placed me into a female study group as the only male, no big deal right? Wrong, so very very wrong, the ladies in my group were not at all math oriented and would flake off during class. The teacher decided to average my scores in homework and tests against the scores of the people in my study group. So, if I got a C and someone else got an F I'd get a D. She would only do that with me. Average my scores against the lowest in my group. When I went to file a complaint I was effectively told to deal with it, drop the class, and retake it with another teacher. I ended up having to test out of the class to get into the next level since I didn't have the funds to retake the class a second time.

I once had a joke group about NO MA'AM the group from Married with Children, nothing big just something for my friends both male and female who liked the show to goof off with. Well, one day I got an email from someone asking why I hated women, then that turned into ten emails, then a few dozen, and before I knew it my inbox was filled with hatemail, and a link to a Feminist blog who wanted to discuss how pathetic I was and yadda yadda yadda. All about a group for people who liked Married With Children, like it was beyond their comprehension that Al Bundy was a fictional character. Anyway, they found my myspace profile at the time, and sent so many complaints about my "obscene" content that my stuff was deleted, which included a couple years worth of blog posts.

I have personally known 7 women who flat out lied about being raped because of either regretting who they slept with, or getting caught cheating. These only affected me in how I never wanted them in my life ever again. My girlfriend was a volunteer RVA (Rape Victim Advocate) she'd give information to rape victims while they were in the hospital about their options and what the process was as far as medical treatments and legal rights. She had to quit after two years because out of all the people she went to help, only one was a legitimate rape, the rest were outrageous excuses from "He wasn't as rich as he said he was" to women who just wanted the morning after pill and didn't want to pay for it.

I'm an accomplice of sexism in my office. There's a female part timer with personal issues which I understand (I'm going to give her therapy soon) that cause her to have disciplinary issues when it comes to being in time to work. Our policy with part timers is very tight when it comes to punctuality, but with her we're trying to be empathetic, while with men we're a lot harsher.

I'm an accomplice because she works in a linked department to mine, so I don't have the final word about her, but only two days ago I decided to talk with the responsible person and gave him an example of the double standard we're having.

This is probably not what you're looking for, but it's related.

About sexism, I grew up under the belief that women were infallible, perfect, all knowing, more mature than a man could ever be, stronger and a long etc. This was taught from home, from relatives, from school and from media. As you can imagine, this caused a terrible damage in my relationships with women and men.

Also, if anyone still believes that young boys think only about sex and young girls are disgusted by it, when I was 8-12, girls who were obviously smarter than me when came to sex, used me as a tool of exploration and self-exploration. My mother caught me twice, both times I got some of the hardest scoldings I had ever received. I had no clue what was going on.

In the end, we're all humans, with our bright and dark sides. What is important is to live consciously and keep growing as a person, polishing our flaws and promoting our strengths. I think that both men and women face sexism in different ways and both are damaging in one way or another.

I'm a graduate creative writing student, and the program requires us to take four lit classes from the graduate lit program. The classes are much more about literary theory than the literature itself, and the spectrum of lit theory is basically just Post Modernism, Feminism, and Queer Theory (we may have a Critical Race Theory person, but I'm not sure). Basically, it runs from Blue to Violet, and as you can imagine, the Post Modernist readings like to use phrases like "male gaze," and are essentially just pre-Feminism.

There is no aestheticism, formalism, Darwinian lit theory, American pragmatism, or modernism. I had to look up what the other major schools of literary theory are, because they're never even mentioned (except modernism).

It's not a more concrete form of sexism, like being denied custody of your children, or getting harassed by the police, but I think it is a form of sexism to have only this narrow band of literary theory available. I don't even think there needs to be a Masculinism Theory, I'd just like some ideology that isn't based on a theory of systems of oppression.

The only truly obvious sexism I've had directed at me has been being called a sexist because I'm male.

I remember an incident that bothered me a little bit last year. My husband is a math education major. A female classmate of his asked for help while she was enrolled in a course that he had taken a previous semester (apparently her teacher wasn't great at explaining concepts). So I often came along to tutoring sessions so I could sit and read my book and chit-chat between their practice problems. Somehow I got on the topic of silly things my husband and male roommate did (God knows what specifically I mentioned, just benign goofy stuff). And it just falls out of her mouth:

"Well you know how boys are. They're not smart like girls."

It took a lot of willpower not to say "You realize that one of those stupid boys is tutoring you right now, don't you?"

It's surprising what people will say without thinking.

I was told I was a conservative asshole that probably wanted the woman slandering me to get back in the kitchen and make a pie because I didn't think the Zimmerman incident was racially motivated.

This was from a friends mother who I've always considered to be a surrogate mother for me, and I've known her for almost 20 years. It actually hurt me very profoundly that she would think something so hateful about someone who's never shown her anything but love, respect and admiration because she was so wonderfully supportive of me where as my own mother was abusive in every way besides sexually.

I'm actually getting a little upset thinking about it.
