Anyway, yess, yes I absolutely do feel like there's pressure to overachieve — as well as — and you didn't mention this — pressure to be known as a "Woman XYZ" or "Female XYZ."

I hear ya on craving a slower life, too. Wow. That really speaks to me. Just earlier this evening, I was on a phone call with my sister, and every single time (for the last year) we've been on a phone call, she's been high energy and fast-paced, and I tried to help bring her to my level for this phone call today, but it didn't work. 😂 For context, she's a Type A personality and very outward-appearance focused and tries to look like she has everything put together. But she knows I know she's allowed to not be put together. I'm not judging her. Anyway... Yeah. Your post. Maybe try asking it in r/AskWomenNoCensor, too. :)

I am reading this book called What Your Husband Isn’t Telling You, which actually goes into some of this. It is absolutely exhausting trying to do it all, and I also think trying to do it all has damaged my marriage and my family.

I am totally onboard with you on this. I keep on telling my friends that feminism has ruined our lives. I am a ph.d, assistant professor. Teach 150 hours a year then do research, publish. Be a home maker, cook maintain the household. And no respect from the family as I ‘did not sacrifice my career for family’. Could take kid cause phd and work till now(I am 37). So society thinks I am selfish. Overall feel screwed by feminism and equality. I shoulder half of the household expenses but 80% household chores.

This is coming from a twice married, once divorced, 39 year old mom of three. I had an awesome career in the medical field. I gained so much confidence from my career I got to the point of where I was telling Drs they were wrong (when they were).

My second marriage brought about a baby and the opportunity to stay at home to raise him, which I took. It was extremely hard to figure out who I was after walking away from my job--that was my identity. It's been a year and a half and I'm so grateful I'm still at home. I get to be the one to raise and love on my baby. I get to workout when I'd like. I'll cruise by my favorite stores or pick up a coffee and go antiquing--whatever fills up my self care "cup." When I get home, I'm so happy and grateful and it's easier to focus on the chores and things I need to get done at home.

I'm finally realizing that feminism is hurting the family (among other factors), and I'm treated like a radical for having traditional values. I'm happier and have less resentment and stress now that I'm not working, which reflects directly into my marriage. If I'm happy when my husband gets home, then we have a lovely evening. If I'm a stressed out crab ass, then the night may involve arguments or silent treatment. I much prefer the former.

I also had to deal with my emotions about not feeling important. This was the hardest transition for me. You know who thinks I'm incredibly important? My family!

Although I don’t like what feminism has become*, I actually think feminism works for me. Most of the men, activities & all around lifestyle associated with it doesn’t interest me whatsoever so my bubble exists outside of feminism. Let women stop shaving their armpits & become CEO’s… that left SO MANY MEN for me to choose from because if were being honest, most men don’t prefer this modern day feminist.

In comparison to women before, I actually think we have it easier. No one expects us to be superwomen anymore. Birthing children is often enough. We can look like shit, stay home & pop in a frozen dinner. That would never fly in past times. You were expected to be put on together & really cook & be the most adoring parent ever. Now people actually look down on the parent rushing their kid to a million events.

*Feminism to me, has always been about choice. The modern movement focuses too much on fighting to do everything men do (choice or otherwise) which is cool if you want that, but I don’t want to go to war of work 100h/week, thanks.

I am mad sometimes that the narrative seems to have drastically changed in the last 50 years. They expect us women to do it all. They forgot to be grateful for small victories from their daughters and granddaughters.

Let me explain what I mean. My grandparents at least are Christians, they are old so they have known those times. Yet they have never praised me for not getting pregnant, getting a good boyfriend, which is my only relationship and is very stable, they never talk to me about marriage and stuff. Only thing I hear is about my study. Yet your wife had no diploma. Why are you so focused on me getting one? I want one eventually, but its too much pressure, I feel like I am not appreciated enough for the things I did right.

I am very curious, and I like studying, and I have lots of ideas, I like the idea of me helping change things. but I do not dream of some sort of soul crushing career, 40 hours a week. Doing robot things. I do not. I need to take things slow, to have time to think, to work part time. This is who I am.

Yes, I understand. My experience on the matter is not exactly what you are looking for because I am unmarried, but I wanted to say I feel the same way already. I'm just about 21 and I'm trucking my way through university, working, and managing my own household, which is all normal, but I am afraid for when my partner and I get our degrees, move in together, marry, and have children. I'm on track to becoming a teacher. He was homeschooled by his mom, so he talks about working while I stay at home when we have children. I've lucked out in that department. He's a brilliant guy headed into programming and the tech industry, and I have no doubt he'd take good care of our family while I educate. Despite this, I still feel anxious for the future solely because of how the economy is. Women are expected to work and it takes two working parents in most situations to support a family. I'm afraid that even though we want this lifestyle we won't be able to sustain it.

There women who feel femals are not equal to men. Regardless of their intelligence, education, competence, abilities, whatever traits you might measure people by. They deny all the goals of feminist movement.

There are others who believe that feminism is right generally but they want a life with a special man,it is about how they fit together and what is best for them as a couple

There are those who think all people should have equal access to education, academic or vocational or practical. And equal opportunity to advance in their careers/professions with equal pay.

≈=====≈≈========== I want a woman who seeks an unequal power dynamic. Whatever terms I use for her, if she really were stupid and worthless, she'd not be of much value to me.

Many females I have known or observed have been more compassionate, thoughtful, intelligent, accomplished and responsible than most males.
