Any movie or TV show where a woman slaps a man in the face. Regardless of why she does it.. It's still assault.

Pretty much every episode of The Big Bang Theory.

For example, Penny constantly threatens Sheldon with violence.

Sheldon: "Ooh, Penny, it's as if the Cheesecake Factory is run by witches."

Penny: "Ooh, Sheldon, it's as if you don’t think I'll punch you."

Another example:

Leonard: "Penny, you don't wanna get into it with Sheldon. The guy's one lab accident away from being a supervillain."

Penny: "I don't care. I was in junior rodeo. I can hogtie and castrate him in 60 seconds."

And these are just the ones I remember off the top of my head. Seriously, watch any episode of TBBT, and all you'll see is the women putting the men down, mocking them, ridiculing them, shaming them, and threatening them.

You can also use the search box; some of the results are other media that includes the double standard not listed on the main page. Though of course there are countless more not even mentioned here. It could be worth it to start compiling a list every time you see it, if you get that kind of argument a lot

Every now and then I'll come across a person claiming a similar thing like "I don't see people marginalize women hitting men / women raping boys / etc. any more than vice versa. You're just imagine things. I flat out don't see this at all"

Honestly, there are some things that are so glaringly self-evident (the female-on-male violence double standard; the female-on-male rape and sexual abuse double standard, etc.), that if a person says she doesn't notice it, she either lives under a rock or is just being dishonest

One of the worst examples in film that I’ve seen is the movie “Fools Gold” starring Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson.

In one scene: she’s just divorced him because he failed to earn a high enough income to provide the lifestyle she wanted. Afterward the divorce is finalised in court, she learns that the main marital asset that she planned to sell — his boat — has sunk. Furious, she picks up a metal walking stick and hits him in the head, knocking him unconscious. He collapses on the footpath and she walks off, with no concern at all for his wellbeing or safety.

Just to further normalise this violent behaviour, as soon as he wakes up he begins thinking about how to win her back. Although he sports a large bruise on his face and deep, painful cut above his eye, he shows no concern or resentment about her behaviour.

She does some online research into some news he told her, and realises that he actually is on the trail of some sunken treasure as he’d claimed. Her interest in him is rekindled by his likely impending wealth and they ultimately reconcile.

All in all it’s a truly awful movie in terms of the female behaviour that KH’s character displays.

The instances of gaslighting, undermining and manipulative or controlling behaviour that would most certainly be portrayed as abuse if reversed are the most common. People just cannot recognise emotional abuse if it is a woman doing it to a man. It gets excused with "happy wife happy life", ridiculed with "you're under the thumb" or just ignored. Sometimes people may call her a bitch but it is rarely recognised as abuse.

Maybe it's too old now, but perhaps you could search for movies proceed by "Lifetime." From what I recall growing up, those movies always had a horrible man who would beat women, and "strong, independent" women who would fight back.

God, I really wish I could remember the name, but one specific one showed a women who was beaten regularly by her husband, and one day decided to set up physical traps around their shared property and kill him. Never did it show her try and leave him.

Your friend is clearly blind. I can't recall ever seeing a man hit a woman on tv and it be acceptable. Men get hit by women all the time and it's either played for laughs or he 'deserved' it.

You could show her a billion examples and she would still deny it.

There's a cartoon on Netflix called bigmouth. It's about teenagers going through puberty and all the problems and embarrassments associated with it. It's almost dripping with left wing talking points as it is but there's an episode where a female character literally breaks a male characters wrist for something and he's made out to be the villain for it. It's a worthy punishment in their eyes for basically "pumping and dumping" and never again is it brought up she literally broke his wrist. That one was the most blatant I've ever seen.

Suicide Squad had two instances of women being hit which were portrayed as comedy violence gags, but that's rare. And they contributed to the negative reviews, even though one of the two was entirely justified. There was plenty to criticise from a filmic perspective, but a number of the bad receptions were ideologically driven - one of the first times I truly noticed the trend, to be honest.

Your friend sounds either wilfully ignorant or intellectually dishonest on this matter.
