It's bullshit and it's fearmongering. At the very least in the U.S., there are laws known as Good Samaritan Laws that protect individuals who have been trained to perform CPR and other forms of first aid from legal repercussions related to their actions.

Most of you probably aren't aware, but if you're performing CPR correctly there is a very good chance that you will break some of the victim's ribs. If people aren't getting charged with assault and battery because of that, then a woman claiming someone who tried to save her life touched her inappropriately is not going to carry any more weight.

I understand that there is fear of the repercussions beyond the legal - fear of the court of public opinion. If it comes down to someone's life you need to have faith that the people who are worth keeping around won't look at you with disgust for saving a life. You're a hero if you act while everyone else watches.

Don't drink the Kool-Aid. Not when lives are potentially on the line.

P.S.

Don't perform CPR if you aren't trained.
