It looks like CERN have already condemned him even though there will be an investigation. Following the lead of u/OnlyTheRealAdvice posting here, I emailed them thus:

Dear Sir or Madam,

The decision to suspend Allesandra Strumia on the basis of some opinions he has stated alongside some facts that are objectively true is, without doubt, the wrong one. I would go as far as to say it is a disgrace to your organisation.

Science has had a long battle with those who would put belief and ideology ahead of scientific method, which predated Copernicus by centuries and continues throughout the World today. Unfortunately, you have just announced to The World that you are now batting for the wrong side.

They replied:

Dear Michael Steane,

CERN, like many members of the community, considers that the presentation, with its attacks on individuals, was unacceptable in any professional context and was contrary to the CERN Code of Conduct. It, therefore, decided to remove the slides from the online repository.

So please note that the scientist you mentioned was not suspended because of the data analysis presented during his talk - that can of course be scientifically discussed, and has been indeed discussed during that workshop. It is not about opinions either. It is about an offensive presentation that included personal attacks.

Be sure that academic freedom is very important to our Organisation.

Please note also that he was not fired, but suspended, pending investigation.

So I pointed out the hypocrisy of their holding an "investigation":

I wonder why you are actually bothering with an investigation, when your first sentence quite clearly says you already consider him guilty. It does look like he's going to get a fair hearing when you make that sort of statement before the investigation.

Your linked statement is merely an affirmation of your adhesion to current political correctness. The Catholic Church may well have considered the beliefs of Copernicus and Gallileo to have been "offensive", but they were right. If Professor Strumia is not right, you should be able to show that by holding his talk up to the light, but that does not seem to be the approach you are taking.
