Discussion on Quora "Do men think about their body flaws as much as women?"

I thought there was a variety of reasons and explanations in the other answers to make it worth sharing the discussion and maybe discussing it here as well. Many of the answers are either that men don't worry about it because there's not pressure on men to look good, and / or that men are less likely to tell others about their insecurities

Like I said in my answer, I think it's more the latter, and also that there are certain "body flaws" that a lot of guys are insecure about (e.g. height, buffness, penis size, etc.)

Some of those answers are very odd.

Do men think/worry about their "body flaws"? yes.

Do they think/worry about them as much as women? no.

I've not read the article, but with women their SMV is determined mostly by their looks, so they are strongly motivated to look as good as possible. With men their SMV is almost never determined by their looks (unless they are male models), so they focus on what gives men SMV, their careers primarily.
