I was seeing red when I got to the part where it said the ex-wife now works two days a week as a beauty therapist. Like wtf? How can't they see how wrong that is? How many people get to work only two days a week and have any kind of comfortable lifestyle? Why is she entitled to that?

Obviously, alimony or maintenance payments are necessary, but we need to look at countries like Scotland for examples of how to support one party without exploiting the other.

In Scotland, maintenance payments typically last a maximum of 3 years, enough time to re-establish yourself and sustain a basic standard of living. In Britain and Wales, these payments are for life. That needs major reform.
