I wonder what "research" has she done, if results are turning up empty. Probably asked her therapist "could I meet Sean Connery clone aged 30 who wants no children" and therapist said - sure, whatever you imagine, as long as you attend my therapy sessions.

I also do not believe she can manage children, stressful job and dating all alone. Maybe if father of the children has 50% custody. I wonder if she had any ONS during those couple of years of divorce, because from her text she seems really bitter and off-putting. Her ex-husband is probably living the good life, and she is eaten by jealousy.

Here's what I suspect is going on: the key is that she says she can't find single dads in her age range (30-36).

What's unsaid is that she's looking for a guy with a good career, making good money. After all, she now has a "lucrative" bachelor's degree, so ain't no way she's dating below that. Those guys tend to marry late (maybe late 20s - 30s). And that's when they marry. They don't finish the married-children-divorce cycle until their 40s or later. Which is the age range of single dads that are probably interested in dating her.

There are plenty of guys who got married early, had kids early, and got divorced by their early 30s. But they tend not to have gone to college, or at most, got their bachelors, and not spent more time in advanced degrees. She doesn't want them. She's looking for someone who e.g. became a doctor (doctors don't finish their residency training until early 30s) but somehow married / had kids / divorced while they were still in training. That is a very, very small group of professionals.

She doesn't realize she wants fried ice: someone focused enough in their 20s/30s on their education and work to build a lucrative career, who somehow also got married so early that they're divorced with kids by their early 30s. That doesn't happen often.

She also generously says she's willing to age a few years before giving those 40-something dads a chance. She doesn't realize when she hits those years, those 40-something dads will still be looking for early 30s 2nd wives. I.e. when she finally deigns to "accept" them, they will no longer want her. After all, if those guys wanted a late 30s woman, they'd be dating them, and not looking at an early 30s woman like her. It's not like it's easier to attract a younger woman than an older woman.

What'll happen is that she'll age into her mid/late 30s, and find to her dismay that those early 40s guys she thought would be around, are no longer interested in her, and that she'll have to go for an even bigger age difference to find a man. Meanwhile, her chief asset (youth and beauty) will be declining, her kids will get to the age where massive expenses (aka college) loom near, and even fewer guys will want her.

At that point, she'll think wistfully about the men she rejected even though they were willing to reconsider their life's goals to be with her, or the late 30s guys who she dismissed because they were outside her age range, and wonder: where did all those men go?

P.S. The people who will have it the worst from this whole experience will be her kids: she's so worried about someone *else* abusing them, she doesn't realize she's the one who is fucking them up, subconsciously transferring her own experiences and fears about being abused onto her kids, raising them to be so scared of their own shadows, convinced there's a monster on every corner, that they will end up as anxious, neurotic, and emotionally fragile as her. Perhaps if she swallows her bullshit requirements and finds a good man to be in their life, while they're still young enough to form a healthy father-daughter bond, something that can serve as a counterpoint to the paranoia and fear that oozes from every pore of their mother's body, maybe, just maybe, they might be able to avoid therapy. But she won't. Because her needs come first. Her kids were a mistake and she'll never forgive them for it. And she certainly won't make any sacrifices in her own happiness to give them the stable family life and support that they need to not turn out as fucked up as she is.
