An Instagram story I saw for International Women’s Day.

Apparently, when a man is successful in life, it’s not because of his hard work, determination, and sacrifice. It must be because of a woman. BUT, when a woman is successful, she’s a self-made, independent, “bad-ass bitch.”

What a terribly sexist and inconsistent viewpoint.

The assumption is that either men are losers for not being successful, or they’re losers for needing a woman’s help. Either way, their screwed.

Our highest political position has been held by a man. He refuses relationships all together.

Behind him, there's his footprints and the bodies of his enemies. Not some chick.

[–]IIIE_Sepp 9 points10 points11 points 5 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

"the bodies of his enemies"

hmm

[–]heyyy-kiddo 7 points8 points9 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

It's true for all rulers. If it's somehow not that then he's a puppet.... To rule you need to be somehow on top. In Russia is a battlefield between the executives of the state ,in US it's a about money and who the big companies prefer,in China is like in Russia. Small states are appointed rulers by the big "dogs" trough indirect means:media manipulation ,late scale financing etc. Rarely someone is chosen.

[–]IIIE_Sepp 5 points6 points7 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Yep, a real democracy doesnt exist

[–]Atilla942 4 points5 points6 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Democracy is mob rule.

[–]Anonymous_Browser_ 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

A politician who can cut through red tape and the opposition at the same time? You may be cautious, but that’s someone I can get behind... metaphorically speaking.

[–]proudduchman 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

He most likely has a relationship now, but he keeps it a secret.

[+][deleted] -7 points-6 points-5 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

The fucking quote you're talking about is referencing women from the 50's when they were required to keep house if they didn't the man wouldn't be able to go to work as no one would be there to look after the kids etc. It's literally the patriarchy's fault you melt

Behind succesfull women is affirmative action and privilege

[+]ObviousObservationz -14 points-13 points-12 points 5 years ago (51 children) | Copy Link

This is blatantly not true. Many women are very talented in their positions and have earned their credentials. Suggesting otherwise is just a sexist comment that women aren't as capable as men.

Why do people upvote these comments?

[–]d_nijmegen 29 points30 points31 points 5 years ago (29 children) | Copy Link

Because we recognize the irony of switching the genders and its instantly recognized as sexist

[+]ObviousObservationz -24 points-23 points-22 points 5 years ago (27 children) | Copy Link

You didn't switch genders. You took a post saying that women create their own path in this world and you turned it around to suggest that women are incapable.

Thats not irony. Its not a clever twist. Its not a response to a sexist meme.

Its simply you trying to disparage women because you saw something you didn't like. And it's sad.

[–]d_nijmegen 24 points25 points26 points 5 years ago (17 children) | Copy Link

The male version is. Behind every man is a reason he didn't do it all himself.

I changed it to

behind every woman is a reason she didn't do it herself

SImple really

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 5 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

But in the male version, he still got all his achievements himself, the areas he had help with were different i.e not with his achievements directly.

But by saying all successful women got in through affirmative action, you're saying no women would have achieved what they did without changing the rules i.e they got help directly with their achievements, so they don't really belong to them.

One is about recognising women's contributions, the other is to say no women would be successful without being given advantages.

[–]d_nijmegen 10 points11 points12 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

You completely miss the point. I wasn't making a balanced assessment. I was deliberately framing the sentence to be triggering. It works every time. And it always leads to people defending it.

The men defending themselves are called incels for saying, not all men. So I'm happy to hear I got to you. But I will not sink so low to deny you the right to a rebuttal. That's toxic femininity.

[+][deleted] -6 points-5 points-4 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Nah, I think you just realised you're wrong and now you're backtracking, I pointed this out earlier and you didn't say anything like this then. I've noticed mra types can't handle being wrong.

[–]d_nijmegen 7 points8 points9 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Typical female. No man reading this is going to go along with your frame.

[–][deleted] -3 points-2 points-1 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, I do. I think your comment was unnecessary and actually hinders the cause of Men's Rights. I also think you making it about 'role reversal' was a bit of a stretch.

[–]Enzi42 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I mean, you really don't see how this is "offensive"? (I put it in quotes since at the end of the day, it's just an instagram post, but still). It literally says that every successful man could only achieve his greatness because he had a woman supporting him...and then goes on to say that successful women stepped up to their glory themselves without any aid apart from herself.

You really don't think there's a problem here? It isn't "recognizing" women's contribution. The first sentence "Behind every great man is a great woman" would be. But when you add that second one "Behind every great woman is herself" it changes from recognizing the contributions of women to pulling down men. Which doesn't surprise me, since it seems that's a large chunk of what feminists are. There's no harmony, just enemies to be trampled.

[+]ActualDriver8 -14 points-13 points-12 points 5 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

Then you are just as bad, if not worse.

[–]d_nijmegen 8 points9 points10 points 5 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

I know. I fight fire with fire.

[+]ActualDriver8 -12 points-11 points-10 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Dude. How old are you even? You sound like a fucking 11 yo

[+]Alex-xoxo666 -11 points-10 points-9 points 5 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

That’s not fighting for equal rights, you’re not a true men’s rights activist

[–]d_nijmegen 7 points8 points9 points 5 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I'm also not a true scotsman. and you're no gatekeeper

[+]Alex-xoxo666 -12 points-11 points-10 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Compared to you I’m the gatekeeper to the heaven’s gate

[+]ObviousObservationz -9 points-8 points-7 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

So why wouldn't you call this sexism out on that post? Instead of a post that clearly just says women carve their own path in this world.

I have no problem calling out sexism, clearly. But you decided to be sexist on an innocuous post. If you see a post about how women control their destiny, and it makes you want to insult women...you may be the problem.

[–]d_nijmegen 10 points11 points12 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Because it's ineffective, they don't care they say wrong things. At least this way I get the satisfaction of pissing them off.

[–]woke_world_nightmare 4 points5 points6 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This is hateful feminist propaganda

[–]heyyy-kiddo 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I believe it's because of Redditors like you people started to put /s when they make jokes or are beeing ironic, etc. If you think ,in general ,women's self confidence is so weak(which is not) that an internet comment does damage i don't know what to say.

He/she just reversed the situation to change the perspective so it's in plain view that the post is ironically biased.

Not like anyone gives a f*** about instagram posts or what others on social media believe/hallucinate about, but it's a bit irking that they can't see the irony in that.

[–]Alex-xoxo666 -5 points-4 points-3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Bruh you’re literally right, there’s extremists on both sides, and they really think only feminism is extreme

[+]ActualDriver8 -12 points-11 points-10 points 5 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

You are absolutely right! From what I've seen the majority of this sub doesn't really care about men's rights, but are just sexist people that hates everyone that considers themselves as a feminist (and in my experience a lot of feminist are really fighting for equality, at least the ones I know🤷🏻‍♂). In conclusion, to the sexists and hypocrites that read this: Go fuck yourself. Stop hiding behind the men's right movement because that not what you are fighting for, you are fighting to destroy feminism, and tainting this beautiful concept of men's rights in the process, ironically further damaging mens's rights. Its just pathetic. And yes, I'm a guy. And no, I don't consider myself a feminist nor a men's rights activist.

[–]tenchineuro 8 points9 points10 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

(and in my experience a lot of feminist are really fighting for equality, at least the ones I know🤷🏻‍♂).

The word 'equality' by itself means nothing and tells us nothing. Feminism considers discrimination against men and preferences for women to be equality.

What exactly do these feminists you know advocate and support. No assumptions please, if you don't know ask them.

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points9 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

"And yes, I'm a guy. And no, I don't consider myself a feminist nor a men's rights activist."

Also "and in my experience a lot of feminist are really fighting for equality, at least the ones I know🤷🏻‍♂"

In conclusion YOU ARE A LIAR.

[–]ActualDriver8 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Ha? How am I a liar, I said that most feminists I know (as in friends family and so on, also some online) are actually fighting for equality. With that being said I still don't concider myself a feminist. Where is the lie exactly? Btw yes I know that there are also a lot of feminists who are sexist and all that, but saying that EVERYONE who's a feminist is bad... Thats just not true

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 5 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

So not everyone who is a feminist is bad but everyone who is a men's rights activist is bad.

Thanks for proving me right, hypocritical cunt.

[–]ActualDriver8 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm sorry did you even read what I wrote? You are just putting words in my mouth at this point. why am I even waisting my time on you honestly

[–]oram21 -3 points-2 points-1 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

So after going on about hating people that fight sexism with sexism, you try to fight sexism with sexism. Got it.

[–]ethaaaanl -4 points-3 points-2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This sub is split in half. People that actually care about men's rights... and misogynists making us look bad.

[+][deleted] -12 points-11 points-10 points 5 years ago (17 children) | Copy Link

Why do people upvote these comments?

Because you can't separate men's rights groups from anti-feminist/woman groups. If you scroll down, there's also a comment about cats and boxed wine. I came here from twox to see if this place was actually about men's rights, but it's just woman hating as usual. I would actually be on board with men's groups if they weren't saturated with misogyny.

[–]Novitschok 15 points16 points17 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Tbh, twox is also full of occassional man hating and I am sure many users don't support that man hating. Its the same here - there are haters and people genuinely interested in equality.

If i visit twox as an outsider, it pretty much looks like the female Version of an incel sub. Last time I went there, the first post I clocked on was a woman talking about how she sees man only as subhuman (and it was seriously meant, no sarcasm and not meant as a joke) . She had multiple 100 upvotes. In the comments, I , politely and in good faith, mentioned that she was free to hold such views, but then also can't blame men for holding the exact same views about women as she does about men. 5 minutes later, I was downvoted into oblivion and another 5 mins later banned and deleted. You must admit that this won't happen here. You can come here, discuss and criticize us, and we still won't ban you. We are open to discussion. TwoX is not. Thats alos the reason, why shitcomments exist. Because we want them to be challenged rather than just deleted.

Also the comment above was a joke. About a misandrically sexist statement. So don't take it too personal.

For me, I often agree with our most frequent Critique, Mr. ObviousObservations , who even if his opinion often contradicts is a decent commenter with good faith. Just no humor.

[–]ObviousObservationz -4 points-3 points-2 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I appreciate a civil response. I don't always get those.

But you were quick to dismiss this comment as a joke and yet the TwoX comment you read was 'seriously meant, no sarcasm, and not meant as a joke'

If every misogynist comment is a joke but misandry is real and hurtful, I think there may be some bias involved.

Comments like this one need to be called out or we are no better than the countless subs people here complain about.

[–]Novitschok 3 points4 points5 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

So, I also think its important to call out truly sexist stuff, since it helps nobody, it pushes away genuine people, damage the content of this sub and is just hypocritical and stupid to read. So, when I have time, I call those out on this sub as well, and I often times have seen other members calling it out as well here.

So, I know that this comment was a joke, since it reffered to the famous and often repeated sentiment, that behind every strong man is a strong women, which, you must admit, is only partly true, but it is pointless and minimizing the achievememts of men, and this comment jokingly pointed that out by using sarcasm to portray a different situation with an equal minimization of women's efforts. Everyone knows there are capable women as there are capable men, so he made fun of the first statement (in the title) by ridiculing the second statement (in the picture).

So, to the second Part, i wasn't referring to a comment but a whole post on twoX, more precisely a rant and she made it very clear herself that she was dead serious on her rant. And there lies the problem, you see, when you critizice sth. On twoX , you get deleted removed and blocked, no matter how logically and faithfully formulated. Thats the Problem with the sub.

Here however, you can come, have a good discussion, that leaves both sides more educated and, unfortunately, need to deal with some hypocrite sexist, but there is a lot of good and genuine content next to that. The disadvantage from a non moderates sub is that radicals will use it to vent their insecurities. I think you get the point. As I said the difference between TwoX and MR is that TwoX lets the radicals of their side vent and the mods even delete criticism of that, while MR also lets their radicals vent but also encourages criticism by not moderating it away.

Thats why, I must admit, am thankful that you still come here despite various, lets say, unpleasant encounters you had with some to the rads here I managed to whitness in the comments, because every idea needs to be challenged to get better, and i even could help identify and overcome some of my own bias I had before I entered reddit. Thats, how fruitful discussion should be.

Have a nice day, need to get back to Uni now.

[–]d_nijmegen 12 points13 points14 points 5 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

I like to mirror feminists talk. And see how they instantly recognize the sexism. It's a useful tool.

[+][deleted] -7 points-6 points-5 points 5 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

I don't see how this is mirroring feminist talk, it's often true that behind a successful man is a woman taking care of other jobs like cooking and cleaning. Your statement however implies no woman is successful on their own merit, they were handed everything. The statements aren't really equal either, the one about successful men just means they had help in other areas, whereas your statement implies women's achievements aren't really their own.

[–]dumwitxh 7 points8 points9 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Because a successful man can't fucking pay a couple hundreds of dollars every moth for cleaning and food, fucking come on. A lot of men even cook for themselves, as I do

[–][deleted] -3 points-2 points-1 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's not so much the paying for it, it's the doing part. Those men must have been able to get so much more work done with basically their own maid (and nanny if they had kids). I know how much of my week is spent cooking/doing chores. The statement does go a bit overboard though, not every successful man has a housewife.

[–]d_nijmegen 5 points6 points7 points 5 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Im not bothered with the upset opinions of people who say kill all men and men are trash.

I just dont give a fuck. grow a spine and thick skin

[–]Atilla942 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I like your attitude brother, never apologise for something you never did. Feminists want all men everywhere to always feel guilty for merely existing. Its about time we live a happy life and never let men haters bully us into silence.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

It sounds like you're bothered, and where did I say kill all men? Also, i'm just observing something, not really upset.

[–]d_nijmegen 3 points4 points5 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I'm not bothered by your feelings. But your screwed ideas.

You say I'm not friendly enough in my words. You're absolutely right. I treat women like they treat men. You're all potential threats until I've decided to trust you. Until then. I'm not going to be nice to reddit trolls from two x policing my words while they absolutely don't allow any participation on their end.

I tried to be allies. I got rejected. Ok fine. Enemies it is then.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Where did I say you should be friendlier? I think you imagined that. Also lol at women being potential threats, you don't have to worry about women assaulting you in the same way women do. I don't know how to talk to you when you're being this dramatic, so I guess I'll leave to.

[–]d_nijmegen 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

We don't get assaulted like females because we can actually defend ourselves. That's why when we do have to fight. One will go home in a box dead.

I'd rather be raped than murdered

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

In other words, women must always be congratulated for a success they never earned, women must always take credit for a man's work and these are the exact same scumbags who whine about the bs of "Matilda's effect".

[–]Rubychan11 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I found myself agreeing with some of your statements, then I checked out your post history and saw you're active in FDS and you just lost all credibility. Gross.

[–]Atilla942 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Ironic you come from two x one of the worst men hating subs, men's rights sub is docile compared to the shit hole sub you came from.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You are obviously just a feminist troll who came here to talk shit, not surprising since most of reddit is a woke echo chambers.

None of us make it to the top entirely without help.

[–]DashCammington 7 points8 points9 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Most of the people who make it to the top did so by trampling over everyone else to get there, because they're sociopaths. Normal people with a functioning moral compass rarely achieve what society defines as success.

[–]heyyy-kiddo 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Depends...if she doesn't put her career above her life it's gonna be ok...tho today a lot of people...both men and women work too much for too little....or working is all they have left....idk.

Typical feminist narcissism. Narcissism is becoming a feminist flag.

[–]TJae0120 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The post doesn't make any sense.

Nobody does anything without the help of others. This post is discrediting all the people who educated her/ took care of her and motivated her to become who she is.

Wait so every successful woman has an identical twin?

[–]ImWaiting4TheDoom 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This thread is a waste of time but...

I laughed so much with the butthurt feminists raging here and the jokes, like the cats and boxed wines. 😂

Behind every successful woman is one thousand men that made her life possible

Bruh why are you so upset over a post about a women saying thank you to herself. No amount of help would get you where you are unless you wanted it and you put in the work.

[–]_throwaway4days_5 points 5 years ago [recovered] (5 children) | Copy Link

I’m all for people celebrating their accomplishments. That is clearly not what this Instagram post was about.

The issue is the double standard that if a man is successful, it’s because of a woman, but if a woman is successful, it’s because of herself.

Someone says “behind every great man, is a great woman,” and everyone says “aww, that’s nice.”

But when someone says “behind every great woman is a great man,” everyone says “ah hell no! Behind every great woman is herself!”

That’s a bullshit, hypocritical double-standard.

This was a post for WOMEN on INTERNATIONAL WOMENS DAY. Why should it include things about men? The double standard your talking about is only shared by fake feminist who are men haters. No real feminist thinks like that. Also i see many in this comment chain and on other post saying "behind all women is a man" so no not everyone thinks of that double standard. The issue in this group is that you're trying to battle feminist, and half of this group is misogynist. It's constantly trying to disprove statics about women's problems, ignoring how difficult it is to be a women in day to day life. Men have problems yes, why is this group not focusing on that? Why arent you guys attacking women and ignoring our problems vs acknowledging our problems and your own problems amd working to fix it. Why don't you guys raise awareness about the toxic masculinity, the under diagnosing of mental health for men, the murders? And since its often men attacking other men for not being "manly enough" and men killing other men those problems it should be easier to raise awareness about, and change it. Don't attack women for not rasing awareness about what you guys want to change, or not doing it right.

I don't recall anyone who saying what you complain about, certainly not the comment you responded to.

What do you think of all the women and feminists who make father's day as being about moms?

[–]That1Freak -2 points-1 points0 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I've never heard of anyone making fathers day about mothers. I've been looking through numerous post on this sub trying to find anything actually helping men, I've seem many misogynist.

The problem is this, Men’s right is simply a reactionary thing to complain about women, literally all major laws are made by men to control poor people, feminism isn’t your enemy. If you think the court tilts towards women that’s because men in power wrote it like that. Ever see how Donald trump got away with 30+ sexual harassment charges but one complaint by a woman to a regular guy will get him behind bars. All laws are made to demonstrate a facade. Let women get equality and men let’s spend our time bringing down the capitalist system that oppress us

Tell us of all the good feminism has done for men.

Both men and women have every capability to be successful and thrive apart from one another.
