I can provide further proof that this only happens in English (and maybe a few other languages buy whatever). Take Polish for example (pretty sure the same goes for other slavic languages like Russian or Ukrainian):

She/He - Ona/On. These words are very similar, in fact it's the same situation as in English - the female pronoun is the same as male but with an extra letter. But, like in English, it's purely a coincidence.
Woman/Man - Kobieta/Mężczyzna. The only similarity is that both of these word end with the letter "a". No patriarchy here. Fun fact: the word for husband (mąż) is similar to the word for man just like wifman is similar to wife.
Female/Male - Żeński/Męski. Both end with "-ski" but once again, no patriarchy.
Human/Man - Człowiek/Mężczyzna. The difference is massive and therefore no patriarchy nor matriarchy, these words are just different.
Person/Son - Osoba/Syn. Nope, nothing. The word for daughter (córka) isn't similar either.

In only one of the four examples were the words even remotely similar. As you can see, it is only a coincidence in English, nothing else. English just likes to mash words together to make new ones and maybe that's a good things, you can guess what someone is talking about without actually knowing these words because you know the words these words are made from... Forget it, it's complicated
