wait im confused. I thought in the quote he was saying the girl doesn't put up with his B.S. Isn't that a good thing?

I can see how it might read that way at first glance, but the truth is that reading between the lines gives the opposite meaning. “Doesn’t tolerate” means that he knows he dumps “BS” on her, but and she fight back just enough to make him feel al though she’s “strong” enough to put up with him, therefore justifying his childishness.
A HVM would recognize his own BS before dumping it (or attempting to) on his partner.

I hate it when men talk like this. If you don't want me to tolerate BS then don't bring the BS to the relationship. Don't pretend that you'll only respect me if I put up resistance to you, while knowing FULL WELL what you're doing is not ok.
I don't want to constantly be on my toes, anxiety ridden, making sure I'm putting you in your place in order to gain a modicum of respect from you. That sounds exhausting.
I want a love where respect is a naturally assumed foundation of a healthy relationship, where we don't try to BS each other but work together, as a team, against the difficulties that life may throw at us.
Women don't need to tolerate men stressing them out with their BS and writing dedications in books as some sort of grand gesture of apology or love bombing, which is what this smacks of, to me at least.

YES. THANK YOU.
Serious question, is it possible there are men out there who want to be in a relationship that doesn't involve them constantly pushing my buttons and bringing me bullshit just to check that I won't put up with it? Because shit is exhausting.

Yes there are men out there like that. My ex was one such man (broke up with him for separate reasons but while we were together there was zero drama because he would never push my buttons like that).
