Why do men's advocacy groups spend so much time focusing on their experiences with women?

The basic idea of gender equality is that men and women should be equal.

Comparing women to men makes a certain amount of sense in that context.

"Hey wouldn't it be nice if men had these rights too, and not just women?"

A lot of it happens around double standards too.

"Hey look at this thing that women get away with that really isn't fair or right."

Because that’s the injustice felt the deepest. When a court tears a father from his children that just cuts deep. That’s usually from a divorce that got really ugly

When you have two categories that make up 99% of scenarios it is easy to directly compare the first category to the second category. Imagine we only had two races say for example Latino and White would it not be a lot easier to directly compare the two as opposed to now when we have multiple races?

Because a lot of us were taught that women go through a lot of bad s*** and just have it worse than men.

That is until you live your life filled with nothing but nasty and disrespectful women who use their woman card as an excuse to get away with it.

I was falsely accused before and it was only because I was cool with the dean and the security guard that I was believed and nothing crazy happened because of it. That is how much power that woman had or this specific white woman to be exact

When women bring up their issues with being a woman usually it follows with a story of some man and I don't think the reverse existing is too far-fetched

Sure, you should focus on self-improvement, work on some of your own deficient life skills, instead of complaining about women. But what if the life skill you need to work on most, the deficiency that gives you the most trouble and unhappiness, is your ability to set boundaries with women?

The trouble starts in boyhood, with the double bind of being told to treat girls simultaneously as fierce competitors who you should fear and respect, and delicate creatures put off their game by your very presence and galumphing boyish energy.

If a man is badly treated by a woman, people are much more comfortable when her agency and bad intent can somehow be transferred to the man's side. In retrospect, are there things he could have done better? Of course. Is he entirely innocent? Of course not. Was she sometimes responding to his cues? Of course. Feminists end up circling around to saying the same thing as the worst kinds of swaggering PUA - if you were a better man, if you managed the emotional atmosphere of your harem like an alpha should, women wouldn't give you any trouble - bad behavior by women is only in response to some failing in the men.

And if it's conceded that a particular woman behaved badly, people are still reluctant to categorize her misbehavior as characteristically feminine, or thematize it as any kind of toxic femininity. Besides, what sort of creep or prig are you to be so preoccupied with female sinning? Women's failings are the failings of human beings, surely you don't think women aren't human? On the other side you have whole bookstore sections, radio call-in shows, senate committees on the 599 kinds of toxic masculinity. So, yes, women can be quite civilized in talking about men's failings - they can subcategorize, distinguish the mild from the severe cases, the particular from the general, the sin from the sinner. But men know there's an unmapped area of conversation, that it's a minefield, they lack the vocabulary to address it, anything they say is bound to be wrong.

While I imagine most here started differently, a lot of men honestly don’t think about men’s issues until they get wronged in a way a woman wouldn’t, or get harmed by a woman. There’s also a lot of dating angst mixed in, which I think has only increased since #metoo.
