Hey guys, I need some help with my wife. We just had our first child. She got angry when I told her I showed pictures of him to coworkers. She informed me that she will not trust me to take him out in public (corona virus or not).

She could have post partum anxiety as well, but if she is not taking her PPD meds then she may not take those either. Is there a family member that she is close to, like her mom, who could back you up?

You need to call her doctor now and explain this. If not resolved it could progress to something worse.

Do you feel like your baby is safe with her? Are you safe?

You didn't do anything wrong and her response was ridiculous, I highly recommend trying to attend therapy with them to help with the issues she's having coping after giving birth. Best wishes for you and your family man, good luck pushing through this.

She needs to see a doctor urgently. Be sure to go with her and make it clear that she is not taking medication. Getting all bent out of shape because you showed pics of your baby to people is not rational.

You and your child need to be in a safe place away from this woman until she has recovered from whatever is causing that.

As a dad you are fully within your moral rights to decide whom you can show your child's pic. It is a nice human gesture.

There are certain communities where this is generally avoided, but even they have progressed a lot.

First, decide whether is doing it on purpose or a genuine case off PPD. Even people with ppd does not need to behave this this. She will be a trouble for her own child unless counseled or treated.

Start documenting everything and store the evidence in a safe place. It may be extremely important at some stage in the future.
Do not allow her to manipulate you. She needs you to show strength when she cannot control herself. Wear the trousers and make it clear that you will not take orders from her especially about absurd things like showing photos of the baby.
Get here to a doctor and make it clear that she is not taking her meds. This is urgent.

If your wife's psychological, verbal, and emotional abuse becomes unbearable, just take the child and flee the fuck out of her life, and cut all the contact with her out of your life. (Don't forget to record all of her mean behaviors and insulting whenever you want to leave her, so you can prove how unfit she is to be a mother, should you get in legal trouble.)

She's the one who should not be trusted with a child, just look at the way she uses you as a sandbag to reduce her stress from postpartum depression. People who use their children as a tool to justify their shitty behaviors against others are outright toxic individuals, and I am afraid that if she's abusing you and justifying it by using your beloved child as a shield from criticism, then she may eventually abuse your child as well in the future.

I don't see anything wrong with showing the picture of your cute little child to your friends (tho at least in my opinion), and even if your wife did not give you the permission to do so, it does not excuse her abusive behavior towards you. It would be wise to keep your child away from your wife, because you don't know when she'll start abusing him as well. So, if anything is about to get ugly, then you should take your child, pack your belongings, leave your abusive wife, and start a new, healthy life with him. You are a free man who deserve a happy life, so you must act like one.
