a "female james bond" doesn't make any sense.

a "female secret agent for MI6 in the 00 program" does make sense and could potentially be awesome IF they are doing this to tell a good story and not 'preach' a social justice empowerment narrative. -

I don't go to movies or concerts to listen to a political speech. I go to be entertained. when the story takes a backseat to a politically driven agenda it usually ends up failing the 'entertainment' test. I don't care if I agree or not; I am not wasting my time or money to listen to someone lecture me about their personal political views.

I don't see how there was ever an option to make James Bond female. It's a male character, with a male name, and male mannerisms. If you change the character gender, name, and behaviors you've just made a new (derivative) character, not changed the old one.

This was never in question. People heard that Lashana Lynch's character was temporarily adopting the 007 codename and ran with the clickbait lie that the Bond character was being replaced with a woman.
