For starters it is wrong, but the wage gap is a complete lie that is constantly misrepresented. It doesn’t even show women get paid less for the same work, it just looks at annual wages and gender, no other variables including hours worked. The wage gap thinks everyone should get paid the same, backdoor to communism

I believe the thought terminating cliche for this situation is "Freedom of Speech does not mean freedom from consequences."

The interval between "Ok that's fine by me" and "I saw on your profile..." is described by CBOP as "five minutes".

I would not interpret someone acknowledging that they were okay with my estimate as a greenlight to immediately start billable work without hashing out details of expected delivery timelines (or exact billing details, for that matter).

I’m not sure how this is sexist. That text thread doesn’t supply the gender of either party. It could be two men, two women, or a male graphic designer an female business owner.

Even if we accept the assertion that a man is reducing his bid to a woman,

why is she posting controversial opinions on social media, that she makes/leaves available to prospective clients?
we have no context for the type of social media post to which the contractor is referring . The post made by the contractee, that a wage gap exists, could itself be one that is stereotyping, sexist, offensive or all of the above.
there is no context for the timeframe in which this happened i.e. if that entire exchange happened, start to finish, all at the same time, within 10, 30 or 60 minutes, this could just be some kid trolling her.

This whole scenario asks us to accept the stereotypical assertion that the injured party is an innocent woman victimised by a male villain, which is itself patently sexist.

Kinda think this is loaded, and I didn't see the original conversation actually mentioning the gender of the artist (either it was established outside of the screenshot, known to the parties in another way, or assumed based on the conversation) but if I were that designer, I'd be sending a contract that included the originally specified rate and not do any work on the account until it was signed. And considering that convo, notarized.

The person doing the requesting can fuck right the fuck off. Asking freelancers to work for free, to boost their portfolio with experience or whatever, isn't new and doesn't seem to be particularly gendered overall. This jackass saw an opening to 'get a deal' and went for it. Asshole for making it a gendered thing, normal in the sphere of entitled shitheads.
