Hedy Lamarr didn't 'invent Wi-Fi'. She thought of a frequency-hopping signal that could not be jammed and George Antheil came up with how to do it. They both patented it in 1941. This ideas was later used to create GPS and Wi-Fi.

Rewriting history isn't doing feminism any favours.

As for the article, it's just a gimmick to get people into talking about Monopoly and continue to pretend it's anything but a slog of a game greatly divorced from its anti-capitalist roots.

Ironically, the original game was invented by a woman.

It's pretty funny when you think about it. Hasbro is going back to the well in making monopoly a left wing social commentary again. Except they are still exactly the kind of corporation I'd expect people on the left to oppose. Hasbro is a testament to the board game market still being closer to the toy market than anything else. And that means marketing is superior to playability, this game seems to follow that formula fairly accurately.

It's kind of strange to me, because what is to be gained from this? People buy the game and play it. After a bit of time, the extra 40 bucks doesn't mean so much, as you buy "properties" or whatever they have in game.

Growing up, Monopoly was the game everyone had, and you brought it out on a rainy day. Only to eventually see at least one family member throwing a fit because they were broke and another family member had all the big properties.

I imagine it will hit a niche market or will attract collectors of board games, but it seems a bit of a stretch to think this will have any substantial impact. Maybe college girls I guess?

Youtuber Tim Pool did a piece on this arguing somewhat convincingly that in actuality this is antifeminist in much the same way that the socialist monopoly was antisocialist. Short story: it causes women to be perceived to be ahead, which in a board game like this is the opposite of what you want, and may cause resentment for natural advantages that women posses within the game.
