Don't try and detach emotionally. Unless your a born psychopath, they will resurface even stronger and you would of lost years of emotional control. Your young just trust your self and learn from it. Best of luck bro

Regardless of that, if something feels off to you, then maybe it’s not a match. You need to figure out why you feel off or weird about it first, then decide. If it’s a confidence issue, either find it in you to ask her out or cut your losses.

If you're off and on again with her why don't you have a conversation about what you're both looking for? If she wants a long term relationship, ask her if she's willing to try to make it work with you. If she's not trying to settle down right now, which is super legit as she's also only 17, then move on.

Your situation sounds a lot like a song by The Offspring, Self Esteem. Great song in my opinion. You don't want to end up like the guy in the song, letting a woman take advantage of his low self esteem.

I've been in a similar place in my life. It can be hard to just confront someone with something you want. Rejection is scary, and someone lying to you and cheating on you in the future is scary. But, honestly, it better to just go for it. Better to have your heart broken than to be the sad guy she uses when she can't do better.

You just kinda have to STOP thinking about her. Maybe you're not like this as you're quite literally from another generation. But if you've seen Parks & Rec just picture Ron Swanson meditating with Chris Traeger. He just, 'stood there quietly, breathing, there wasn't a thought in my mind." First time I saw that episode I died laughing because I could relate with the man on that sentiment. But this is gonna be one of those things that's either gonna stick with you, or stay where you put it if you know what I mean, gotta make the choice yourself, letting time take care of this is gonna be a slow burn amigo.
