Earlier today I stopped by Family Dollar after work and while waiting on-line to pay for my items, a Hershey's candy box caught my attention that had the "HerShe" (hehehe /s) highlighted, emphasizing the fact it has "her" and "she" in it. Anyway, I forgot the name of the charity on it (it may have been something along the lines of "Run With The Girls?" Correct me if I'm wrong), but the box mentioned something about Hershey's being a sponsor or supporter for a girls' charity. Now I don't have anything against charities and there's certainly nothing wrong with helping out girls in need, but boys badly need it, too. Especially with how badly they've done in schools for years and comprise the vast majority of dropouts, in no small part due to the favorable treatment female students constantly get. Also recognizing and helping male victims (men and boys alike) who are victims of violence and abuse, and especially recognizing they also suffer violence from women and girls (a big elephant in the room society is still reluctant to address). This doesn't come off as equality or charity at all, just more gender discrimination and favoritism disguised as equality when it's really just more marginalizing of men and boys, and still ignoring their inequalities.

Reminds me of the ridiculous M&Ms "Supporting Women" campaign with their female-only candy and how their proceeds are going towards female founders. I mean really, using candy of all things as a venue for this? They probably won't bother to have campaigns also supporting men and helping male founders and putting out a men-only candy brand. It's ridiclous, this isn't even about equality anymore, it's just plain discrimination. Equal rights doesn't mean special rights or special treatment, and yet it's what it's been warped into and it's unfortunate to see candy brands of all things are enforcing it. How hypocritical fpor the M&Ms campaign to how "flipping the status quo" as it's slogan when it's actually creating one.
